Well, to all intents and purposes the "nexus" thread is a clan thread, it's no more directioned or organised than any of the other clan threads. I don't make a serious effort of correcting people's RP because it was very apparent even way back in the original thread, that people were going to RP all kinds of derpiness (Transformation nanites anyone?) knowing full well it wasn't canon. The official mod thread is the "official" place to ask questions and get proper answers on lore, as well as the mod itself.

If people wanted to create their own formal RP thread and enforce some amount of rules they're free to do that.

 

To be honest though you being canon manager was a great learning experience. I don't want to even suggest you doing that now with how fast this goes, but doing it when you please is still nice.

 

Amusingly, I'm ok at understanding when people want to RP derpiness and I let it slide, but the one time I corrected someone on anatomy (in an anatomy study) they threw down and quit following the mod citing "RUINED FOREVAH!"

well you do still nudge us in the right direction every so often when you feel its nessisary (from the looks of it) though... i do agree some things here are just.... WTF is going on.. but i try and keep the order... as well as keep whatever sanity i have... its kinda hard....

PS: i keep bringing up the spritzer simply because i still laugh at it... i completely expected the result of that image but the feathers flying everywhere is what caused me to lose my shit

 

okay that.... is not exactly their choice in the fact that the avali are yours technically you really deside what they truely are.... honestly though... i am constantly trying to find out more about them they are just too damn interesting to me...

Edit: besides i have had shapeshifting dragons that crossed dimensions before in my other rps.... hell i have a overly courious dragon named AgYolViing that started in minecraft, became king of a dimension of perpetual darkness, conquered a race of dragons formed by the darkness inside normal dragon's souls, broke down the fabric of space time, entered multiple worlds after finding a safe way of doing so traveling to worlds such as starcraft, transformers. pokemon, and darksouls learning skills and forms from each. and eventually had about... 14 children... whom had children.... which one is named after my soul name from my draconic beliefs (even longer story). i've been through crazy .... alot.....

 

And I still haven't found anything about that. I'm starting to come to terms that I may never do. < A>

also..... ryu been meaning to ask.... do avali purr when they are happy and growl when angered or is it our insanity that added that into the mix

also if we RP avali i wish some stayed at least close to avali lore... and physicality like for me sure i am a shapeshifting dragon but when i'm in the form of an avali i need to obey the laws the avali body lays on me, constantly seeking out a cool place, avoiding water (is it toxic to avali... i know ammonia is only partly toxic in humans if you have too much in you) and such stuff... though ... my character is already painfully uncanon i try to keep it somewhat when it has to deal with avali

 

To my knowledge, water isn't toxic; it's just unbearably hot given their sub-zero body temperature.

Actually, it is toxic, just like how ammonia is toxic to human. A small amount won't kill you, no, but it's still toxic. That's why ammonia is used as a disinfectant-it kills stuff. (Oversimplified explanation go)

 

Your avatar, it changed. Was before a wip version? I liked the old version a bit, seemed more like... a predator. New look seems, softer.

 

The reason avali+water = nono is mostly a matter of temperature, in addition to whatever other chemical effects it might have.

But mostly, it's because the freezing point of water is higher than the boiling point of ammonia.

At some point the idea of avali actually using a solution of ammonia+water, which would somewhat mitigate the problem of temperature, but it kinda stayed as just that. An idea floating around.

Or at least I don't remember Ryuujin deciding one way or another.

I'm not sure they could do a purr. If you think of the sounds some of the more vocal birds make, it doesn't really lend to purring.

A fellow (Who actually used to post on the art section), did some "artistic studies" on the Avali, though his anatomy was always kind've whack, like he always rendered them with plantigrade legs and with a broad, humanlike chest. Anyway, one day he did what was probably best described as an "artistic nude", it was honestly quite tasteful. It did however have more meat and veg on the plate than male Avali should (Which is to say, any at all).

When i pointed out the appropriate line of the wiki he was like "that's gross. RUINED FOREVER". Which to me suggests he was more interested in meat and vegetable dinner, than the actual race, if going without was a deal breaker....

Chemically water is practically inert to avali, they use similar organic chemistry and materials in their cell structures. Mostly it's just thermal (liquid water is considerably hotter than is safe)
