Avali Nexus the Fifth

IMPORTANT AND SERIOUS STUFF

You know... I've been thinking about all the new people we've been having come here, and the seeming equal number of people... that have left this wonderful place. Those people who silently or discretely said their goodbyes and never returned, almost of all them denied the respect of being truly missed, having their absence noted and pondered, even getting a couple of goodbyes. They were discarded like used tissues, cannon fodder almost, we greatly enjoyed their company yet showed no gratitude even when they were lost to us. Most people here probably don't even remember their names. I think they at least deserve the small honor for me to try:

So, here's a list of the people I can remember that have come and gone from this little avali nexus community, many before it even left the mod thread. Almost all of them, have either faded into seclusion in the background, many more not included on this list have defected to the mod discussion, staying purely in the realm of seriousness. Others have simply, disappeared.

All these are perfectly good people, I considered most if not all of them at the very least friends. I've tried to keep contact with at least some of them but that is far from easy. Some of them left at different times, many never made a post after the second nexus thread. There is also the matter that there seems to be a trend of people often claiming they want to leave the thread for a while and cause much upheaval in the process. I see those listed names belonging to those who actually succeeded in leaving. But why? Why is it such a common thing for people to feel the urge to run from this place despite us all being a group of good friends? What are we doing to drive people away?

I believe that we all should take some time to remember these former members of our little community and give them some respect for what they have contributed. These are people that were essential to the formation of this whole thing and they are just forgotten, not even a footnote reserved for them. I would also like everyone here to come together to help me answer these questions: Why are so many people driven to leave? where did this trend begin?

How do we fix this, for the present, and the future...


I will leave you all to ponder this, I only hope that this does not get quickly buried like all my other attempts to infuse this group with reason and reality. If this yet again falls on deaf ears and is forgotten quickly like all those good people, I will become much more motivated to join them. This cannot simply be ignored.

 

yea.... that pretty much happens every day here.... just...pile of avali...

and that is why whenever i eat here ... i use the avali form... much much safer than having to worry about taking in too much ammonia

I sure as hell hope it did, and does the same for many others too.

Because otherwise, I will not hesitate to include myself in that list. I'm tired of us running away from serious issues.

 

honestly i wanna be here to support the avali comunity i will not be afraid to point out something that is causing an issue with me.... in fact... most likely... i would never leave this thread....

 

I've wondered what happened to these guys. I've not looked into it because I assume if they leave and never come back then they're not interested in being dragged back in.

 

There's the question, what EXACTLY are they wanting to avoid being dragged into?

 

Maybe they got bored. Maybe they got offended. Unless they tell us, we won't know.

 

Perhaps keeping active in a thread which's speed quickly made it branch and restart several times takes a lot of energy from certain people- Wanting to read each and every post to be able to respond in the most appropriate way may be straining for some.
Or maybe just the fact that the thread isn't very centered in it's conversations, making it tiring to browse.

They might just not feel like posting when the thread is as saturated as it is.
(some might even tire of the constant RP)

Some might have left due to Starbound itself being as is.


Either way, anyone who chooses to not post in a thread, does so because they choose to, in some way. (Disregarding IRL hindrances)

 

unlike alot of people i have been looking for RP outlets.... it builds up and it drives me nuts when i can't rp with anyone... (mostly started when me and my fiance RP'ed for almost a year straight)

well one of my friends has always said that "you can always be mean. but once you've been mean to someone, they won't beleive the nice anymore" in this situation it would mean that once someone is offended by something they can not handle being around what pissed them off....

(on a completely off topic.... fixed my avatar to be more .... canon with avali lore..... please don't hate it ryu...... *begs the avali god for mercy*)

Ah yes indeed I did, sorry about that, so many names to keep track of for so long.

At least you remembered yourself.

(keep in mind that I am TERRIBLE at remembering people, yet I AM the one listing out the ones everyone else has forgotten, please excuse me if a few are omitted as this is definitely not my strong suit)

Actually now that I think about it there are quite a few people who left/stopped posting... I actually expect that there are more lurking than people that have left.

I'll admit, I've been tempted to leave a few times. I've stuck around though, because I realized either you all would miss me which would be sad, or you all would celebrate me leaving in which case SCREW YOU I'M STAYING!!!

 

Well, now that my lurk is shattered, might as well talk about this a little.

I don't see any reason to make it dramatic, really. I think most of them were just bored.
The ones that didn't want to participate in the happenings of the thread threads anymore but simply wanted to watch started to lurk, like me.
Maybe some of them lost interest in the mod altogether. Some of them may have lost interest in the game, even.

 

thatss actually upsetting i was hoping to meet as many avali fans as i could but if they had other things they needed to be worried about its not really they're faults... hell i have accendentally forgotten about threads before ..... but i feel this may be one that i am more involved with.. simply because i am actually adding things to the community through my mod....

 

Yeah, Starbound is starting to stagnate. It's been awhile since the last update. Heck, I've noticed a drop in new mods coming out.
