Can, not will. Throwing assets takes time to lift and a little bit of time to come down, doesn't fly far and often just makes more cover for the enemy. Plus fighters are lighter than tanks since they need to enter high speeds to protect the one-person speck floating in orbit.

*flips a table* this is information I could have used at the start, anyways I'm thinking the best bet is probably a tactics change depending on how the Alliance handles these things.
if they use them as ambush units they could exact a pretty hefty toll from the Republic elites, and the Republic would be forced to use it's sub-par infantry to try and weed them out before the armor advances into possible killboxes, but if they are aggressive and use them primarily for offensive action or conventional defense then a simple infantry specialist with a railgun could counter them, that's not a great idea though so you'd probably have an "exo-hunter" tank attached to each armored platoon with a down-rated main gun to accommodate a coaxial railgun, which would be able to pretty effectively plug an exo-suit through the chest at excellent ranges.

no actually most aircraft are monstrously huge (Seriously look up any WW2 era fighter next to a tank from that era, they dwarf them, and planes have only gotten bigger since). an Alliance starfighter is indeed fairly small but that's because it lacks an extensive array of munitions or a pilot like the Republic starfighter, which comes in at easily triple the size and bristling with guided munitions
