August Newsletter


So what do you think about this month's newsletter? Were your questions answered, did you find any extra insight that you missed from the dailies?

 

Wow, I actually totally forgot about the newsletters in the wake of all these daily updates. Hehe. I'll have to see if I missed any. This one doesn't really contain anything new, but oh well. Can't complain, this means they're hard at work on the game.

 

Nothing special really. All of the newsletters so far have just been summaries of the info we already knew from the previous month. Kind of disappointing, actually.

For me it's enforced that we're looking at an October or later release. Dunno how you got that idea. The Newsletter was always the presumed platform they'd use to announce a beta date, and seeing as there's still "a whole lot to do" and Insomnia is right around the corner..

Yeah there wasn't really much of an optimistic hint at all about them almost being done. I was at least hoping for some kind of cheeky hint.

 

theyre not the type of people to hint at anything though, when they have something to announce they announce it. all the main features are being finished, and by the end of insomnia im optimistic we'll see a beta launch.

 

I liked this month's newsletter, though it has been seeming like the newsletters are becoming useless.

 

Wasn't it said "you'll know as soon as we do" (or similar)? That's a bit different from "you'll know possibly up to a month after we do". They've been super open about stuff lately, I honestly don't see that happening.

They're good for the people who aren't following day to day and just want a general, hey, stuff's still happening, zombies haven't eaten us yet.

 

It was said we'll know as soon as they do, but we also know we're going to have "plenty of notice" or something to that effect. It could go either way, really, but it would seem to at least make the Newsletter more relevant if they reserved it for announcing a release date. I don't suppose the Newsletter icon on the mainpage literally being represented by a newspaper with the words "RELEASE DATE" emblazoned on it rather obviously back this up to any extent.

As it stands, with this logic of "you'll know as soon as we do", they probably still have no realistic timeframe for when it could be out. There are two "exclusive previews" coming up, one later this month, and one in September. I'm aware Tiy said we'll get the game before these events, if they can manage it. It just throws me for a loop when we get updates to the tune of "All major features are basically complete" and then a Newsletter claiming "there's still so much left to do!" Yes, this basically means they're about done and the "so much left to do" is bug-related and tweaking and aesthetics..

Lest we forget, in jest or otherwise, bartwe mentioning on IRC that December at the earliest was our likely timeframe for a release. Now, whether this is beta or full, I don't know. But it really seems to resound at this point, given the polish they're applying, the hype they've to live up to, and really, just because they can - for good or ill, they can, and really, why not?

 

With the Daily updates and nothing "awesome" in the newsletter, it is a bit sad, i guess it should include some more stuff fan-made stuff, contests, etc... Monthly!

 

That was a super underwhelming and lacking newsletter. :/

 

You mean like basically every newsletter so far since even a casual look around the forums will tell you everything it contains weeks in advance?
