It's still fairly civil. But I don't expect that to hold on for a long time.

Clearly it was a mistake to ask for everyone to not be degenerates. Someone please just lock this fucking thread. You win again, Internet.

I get what you're saying, but on an individual level there's actually already a term for the things you're describing: Being a jerk.

CF has made it clear that jumping at people's throats is not cool, no matter what 'side' you're on. And they do their best to stick to that. If someone is acting that way, reporting will do more to solve the problem than labeling or ignoring will.

...Anyway, one thought. You said that you never directly called anyone that. In that case, try to see if there's really any one person who's rising to that level, or if it's just an impression you're getting as a whole. After all, it's very easy to feel like you're being attacked or insulted even when it's actually a few people just being a bit snippy. I don't know what it's called, but the effect of an impression seems to magnify the more people that make it. Like a stampede or something.
Careful what you wish for. >_>

It's not an impression, just because I've never directly called someone a white knight doesn't mean I've never had the opportunity to do so. I've had my fair share of assholery this year, it is by no means an impression, I can tell the difference between someone getting snippy during an argument and someone outright insulting me.

You do realize how pointless and childish the whole thing is?
    "You said I stink"
    "No you said so"
    "Well no you did"
    "No you"
    [...]

    I'll tell you one thing
This is an insult and I could not agree more.

Are you guys trying to start an argument here? I thought things were being fairly civil.

Then yeah, not cool at all. Sadly, there's always bound to be those kinds of people, but I would expect them to be a small minority.

If anything, the more time I spend on these forums, the less it bothers me that the beta is taking a bit longer, and the more I want to contribute some extra bucks to the dev team.

The behavior on display, while entirely expected (because INTERNET!), is wholly embarrassing - yet the dev team continues with dedicated daily updates, and largely doesn't lower themselves to the level of the herd. It's unfortunate how little anyone seems to appreciate the fact that the Starbound team has done everything in their power to keep the community informed, daily.

I know firsthand what it's like to be in the position they are. I know what it's like to misestimate a project and incur the wrath of your clientele. And I know how tough it is when those folks go absolutely bananas.

So I suppose what I'm saying here is that at the very least I'm grateful that the impatience and disrespect demonstrated by others has allowed my patience and respect for the team to grow.

Don't worry about it. According to starbound pre-order page, approx 75k people have pre-ordered. Most are people [like myself] who happily lurk, occasionally catching up on dev progress updates[Which are a bonus, not many games do this]. I'm guessing only an extreme minority is unhappy with the way thing's are standing, and are impatiently pushing the developers to release unfinished content.

You'll find when people are happy with the way things are going, they stay quiet & have no reason to voice their opinions. I hope the dev's aren't feeling pressured under the false impression that majority of consumers are pushing for release. The worst thing to happen is for them to push out unfinished content that will give false impressions of their time/work/passion in the beta, I'd hate for a bad taste to be left in my mouth after getting a taste of it.

I don't understand this "where's ma moneys" thing either, I pay for products simply because i selfishly want the product and it's there. You shouldn't have pre-ordered if you were skeptical about the content of full release/time frames.

Well starting up a thread to discuss the issue isn't exactly a good way to go about quelling the crowd. Kinda like poking a beehive

Once upon a time a thread like this was opened long ago (1 or 2 days to be exact) and it devolved into name calling and insults from both sides the extreme supporters and the (clever name I should put here because I cant think of anything at the moment). This always happens one person makes a good argument/suggestion the others scream and yell at him then people who agree with him fight back until we get a nice ol flame war. Have we learned anything?. Both sides are guilty here.

The devs are not obligated to come here and tell us their personal business (even if being called out by forum goers) and Tiy needs to stop being so sensitive. They've put themselves out there, accepted income and are now fullfledged game developers. They're going to have to learn to absorb the heat that comes from angry people on their forum. They do not need to come here and even respond and if they do, it doesn't have to be an explanation of their financial status or a personal rebuttal. People who have a problem with them will either calm down or find something else to be upset about and, if they don't, it doesn't matter. Chucklefish cannot please every single person and attempting to do so seems a tad ameteur. When you put yourself out on the internet, you should expect negativity directed at you both justified and not justified. You're supposed to ignore it. The internet has worked this way for X years, it's time everyone started accepting that people online can be judgemental. Not only that but if that example the Op gave is what stands for 'bad' or 'shitstorm' these days then this generation has gotten truly milky and soft.

    [Warning: Personal 2cents incoming]

I've taken a bit to cool off since that thread, but I still feel fairly bothered.
Was the way they where saying things dickish? You better believe it, yes. Is a customer concerned about whats going on in the wrong for asking questions? No.

I felt (past tense) insulted with Tiys attitude, even if not directed straight at me. Even if this is an independent developer and producer lead, I expected a professional response. Not him resorting to calling his fans and supporters names for questioning. I understand he felt backed into a corner, stressed, and bluntly it was a bad situation for -everyone-

    - but he shouldn't have responded in that case. Frankly the only reason I was concerned about Molly was the first way it was presented it sound she had to pay her own way, which I thought was unfair. I simply wanted clarification since the subject had already come up and the first way it presented made Chucklefish look horrible. Its a great thing that the basics where taken care of for that trip and it didn't cost her out of pocket. Its true the matter should have moved on once that was settled. Instead it escalated among everybody.

I'm willing to let everything go, but honestly I hope Tiy calms down too. Maybe you think those people scum of the universe, but their scum who have decided to support the game. You don't talk to the people who support you like that, if for no other reason then it makes you look worse. That is something I don't think we want to happen. Nobody I think wants to see the game fail, or Chucklefish.

Let me add, I'm not out to anger anyone or upset anything. I'm just leaving my thoughts on it since this seems to be where to responsed to that thread, and give a viewpoint, agree with it or not.

Anyway 2 bits in. Lets bury this matter outside of here, to point no more posts from me here in this thread. I may edit this one, but I'm for letting this issue die like a few others. Thanks for the bit of space to voice a final thought on it.

I admit tiy would be better of ignoring some fools, Also tiy really did not loss his cool as much as some people who also happen to be the ones who were trolling say he did. He can talk to people like that because they seemed to not care what his response was and just wanted to be confrontational. Thanks for your view point it is always interesting to see different ones.

The dicks were the ones intruding on Molly and the rest of chucklefishes lives. And Tiy was totally justified in what he said but he never swore or anything at the people pestering him.
