Hello. I'm new to the forums, though I've been playing around with the beta since it was released on steam. I'm not much of a dedicated beta tester, however I wanted to give the building aspects a real run for its money. This is one of my first attempts at making something interesting, going with the Glitch medieval theme. I had to splice the image together from other images, so don't mind the odd background. I would love to see what other sort of themed builds people are doing. I've encountered a few delays where stuff is not placing properly but I'm not sure if that's the MP server lag or not. Hopefully more to come!
Looks pretty sweet man. Now you run the risk of someone joining and ransacking your home thinking it's an NPC base.
Just something small: A USCM themed bunker entrance. I would have added a bunker in this stile, but then I would have needed several hours to brake the nearby Prison-Colony down. These Blocks alone needed somewhere around 15-20 Minutes (with a copper pickax). The bunker I build is mostly build with cobblestone-bricks and wood planks. Maybe I will redo a complete bunker, when I have faster/better tools. And a human character. I like the lighted USCM-Sign though...
It's usually found in Glitch Castles or Towns. The latter has a sort of barracks with a tower, where the bell should be. Looks good! I rather liked the penal colony materials and objects but the first time I found it I was too busy fighting the cold with tons of camp fires. I understand the pain of having to mine out everything you use to build with, as gathering all the materials for my castle was a necessary evil. A high level pickaxe is a life savor though!
I may have defaced a USCM tower a while ago with some rainbow wood I found... I even put a rainbow chest in just because it seemed fitting.
I've posted this in another thread already, but I'll post it here as well since I've made several hours more progress since then. The theme I wanted to go for was high-tech underground bunker built under an innocuous building. Somewhere along the line I decided to build a castle on top of it instead. Warning: Image is pretty big The fingerprint panel is wired to the door going into the facility as well as the trap door underneath it so unsuspecting victims trying to use the panel from the left side get to fall into the sawblade pit! The underground corridor that just leads into a wall of dirt is suppose to be a castle dungeon; I couldn't decide how I wanted to build it and didn't have the tiles and decorations I wanted so it's on hold for now. Those chest, that hole in the ceiling, and that long shaft to the surface are just there for ease of access while building and will be removed after I'm finished building.
I second the desert planet - I found some rainbow wood there as well. My floran may have fled from her home planet - but she did not leave her roots behind completely. Thus I tried to recreate a bit of a floran theme for her cellar floor (wip, as you can see: Windows are still missing) - and of course, her spaceship. =) The cellar The ship
I looked, but for the life of me I can't remember which planet it was on. Coords are X: -20899078 Y: -359053757 (alpha sector) if you want to look for it.
I love how everything seems appropriate in your ship. It all suits the viney/flowery theme. Also impressive that you managed not to clutter the place !
Worked a bit more on my bunker today and I've made it self sustaining. It's big and it's boring; it's the Noah's Ark of crops and is growing every plant-able seed in the game! Here's what it looks like from top to bottom. And here it is attached the the rest of the building: Was thinking about building a reservoir to the side and connecting pipes to each room, but it would have taken forever.
I love it when people create structures that aren't just buildings on a flat plane. I love depth and complexity, makes me want to explore more. So um, heres some of my previous homes.
Well, after I finished up the cellar/prison, I thought what the heck, lets give the rest a makeover, too. This is the result so far. Hope you like it. =) (put inside a quote for size reasons)
