Asteroids/Meteors?

I read that planets have asteroids that are up in space which have minerals you can mine. Do all planets have them in space or only high tier planets? I reached the absolute max it seems for height as I begin to insta-freeze even with Impervium armor. I started mining out a Matter Generator Lab and was going to build a sort of space ascension but idk if there is asteroids even on my planet.

I think asteroids are on every planet, its the point when you start to freeze is when you will start to find them, but Impervium armor is no good for outer orbit! You need warm clothes; you need snow gear, but even then that isn't enough. Once you have your snow gear, do you then throw down at least 2 camp fires next to you, and only then will you stay warm.

I don't know if the space helmet negates the freeze effects of orbit all together though, might still be worth looking into and building, but the upper suggestion is how I mined my asteroids! I even found some plutonium up there.

All planets have them. I say this not because I've checked every planet, but because every planet I've checked has had them, including Alpha ones. You don't hit the height cap until you literally can't ascend any further; until then, you can park yourself on an asteroid with a heat source and be just fine. It should be noted, though, that I only ever successfully mined asteroids in the Snow Infantry gear.

Really o_O Impervium doesn't work anymore? Before they rebalanced Impervium and one campfire was enough. But I don't know if asteroids are on every planet, I believe originally they were planning on having planets with rings and those planets would have asteroids? I could be wrong. Either way, right now there are no planets with rings, and I've found asteroids on 2/2 planets that I've tried on.

i have yet to find a single asteroid since ive been knocked of by god damn birds and i go through several stacks of materials and i have yet to reach any

Both times I've made it, I had to fly with infinite butterfly boost. (Pre-rebalance update impervium)

I've started going through the process of levelling out my planet. I'm going to make a big Apex town so I have tons of dirt to make a temp tower. Butterfly boost and grappling hook helps too. My home planet is level 1 so my armor auto-blocks all attacks. As I type this some birds are going to town on me but I don't get hurt.

Also, When I said the absolute max I kind of meant any further was a deathzone, I put down a campfire and it didn't even budge the thermometer. I haven't checked the Snow Infantry Armor for awhile but even Impervium armor has some high weather tolerance. I guess I'll make some snow armor and keep looking :)

Update edit: I just checked and my Impervium armor has the same weather protection as snow infantry armor. I don't know if this is part of the new balance or if it's because I'm Apex.

From last I checked the snow armor had more heat stats than Impervium, the chest alone has 42 on the snow set, and even I still needed 2 camp fires. 2 fires might also make Imperium work as well though, I've yet to reach that level after the wipe.

And for those that have a harder time locating the asteroids, please remember that you can use CTRL to look further, and you can always zoom out as well, these might help you with locating the elusive rocks, some of them can be pretty tiny and juuuuuust out of viewing range.

The chest piece of impervium has 48 for a total of 96.

Edit: Can confirm, only need one campfire for impervium.

@Incendiary: That is good to know! I look forward to my future Impervium set. For some reason I'm remembering it having warmth in the 20s and not as high as 48!
