As Some Of You Might Know, Typing In Co-ordinate Might Take you To a Planet, or Might Not. I Had The Idea That You Could Find and "Mine" Asteroid Belts For Compressed Ore, E.G. 10 ore In One Block, You Could Mine Them Yourself, But It'd Take Ages. So, Setup a Mining Station. It Would Mine The Ores, And Then You Could Collect Them And Take Them Back To Your Space-Station. Just a Idea, As Also You Could Make a Small Emergency Base On A Asteroid Belt. xD. And Also, While On A Asteroid, You'd Need To Wear a Space-Suit, Or Be Upgraded With Implants. You'd also Jump Insanely High. And There Would Be Space-Worms. ALWAYS SPACE WORMS. Discuss.
You should Stop Capitalising Every Single Word Like I Am Doing Right Now Is Number One. The suggestion is good, but I think there are so many suggestions right now.. They are all free update-dlc-fuel. But yeah the suggestion is good, but what other purposes are they made for? Anything other than easier mining? Because I could just mine normally instead of making a mining machine.
You Don't Have to Mine Shit Whenever you see it like in Terraria. 2. I Know About the Capitalising. Shut Up, Can you Even SEE my Sig?
So basically asteroids are just there for lazy people to have machines mine it while you fight off monsters? And no I can't.
1. Choose Preferences 2. Check "Show people's signatures with their messages." And that's how you enable Sig. Tell you what, when you manage to enable Sigs, i'll give you a little sticker that says "Guided Problem Solver". Sound good? On topic: Good idea, but it might take some refining.
No, Not That. You Leave it Alone, And Collect Resorces, So You Don't Have To. And Some Rescorces you cna only get this way.
I don't necessarily care about the resources, but I'd like to see asteroids so I can set up a secret asteroid base.
Aha, well thanks. I know how to see them, I just choose not to. I never stated that I don't know how to see them, in any case, thanks for taking the time of showing to anyone who doesn't know. That's just what I'm saying, you leave the machine there and it gathers resources for you, won't that kind of make it easy? Just.. Collect resource with no trouble? The rare materials only found on asteroids I can understand, but that kind of defeats the purpose of me wanting to actually dig down and fight beasts to get to that mineral, you get where I'm coming from? :O
And I thought that collecting rare resources AND fighting off tough monsters go hand in hand as it should be riskier to gather more valuable resources... not let a machine farm them. Why not simply poof them into your inventory using the console or third party program. ~Jake
I dont think that Starbound is gonna be a game like that From what I know; its gonna be more like finding gear, exploring planets and discovering species of plants and monsters. And please, dont capitalize every word... it makes your argument less mature. Mind as well not even capitalize at all. ~Jake
Have You Even Seen My Damn'd Signiture? You'd Have To Dig Down To The resource To Put the Mine-Pipes Down.
Ah, you missed my joke. "It might take some REFINING"? Geddit? But, as i said this idea is somewhat common sense. Do you REALLY think that the devs haven't thought of what you've thought of? As so far you've said pretty much what just about anyone would say with this idea. 1. Minerals only obtainable through asteroids, yeah, basic. 2. Automatons mining to for you, about a dozen others have thought of it 3. Requiring a space suit to go on one? Basic really, but implants is a good idea albiet it has been suggested like 3 times already. 4. Minerals that speed up your research? Well then wouldn't that mean for all intents and purposes that these minerals would be one-shot materials? Such as finding Purple Anti-matter and you use it to bribe the scientist to work faster? Or is it some kind of machine upgrade? Jake. 2 things: 1. This is an easy comprimise. Machine upgrades, once you get some "Unobtainiam" or whatever it's called you can upgrade your machine to be capable of drill through the object. Also, the better minerals would be deeper in the planet/asteroid, so you'd need to bling out your machine to be able to dig that far. Plus the asteroids with the best minerals might require you to fully upgrade your machine so you can dig through the diamond hard surface. (Mining laser anyone?) See? Now if instead you THOUGHT about his/her suggestion to balance it out instead of dowright saying "THIS IS SO STUPID" then maybe i'd agree with your arguement. I don't. 2. Long ago, in a place called Skyrim, people were bitching and bitching about smithing. People were complaining about how easily exploitable smithing was by using Iron Daggers. No matter how much people tried explaining "But Smithing is optional, who says that you HAVE to specialise in it" people were in a uproar. It seems to me that this is happening again. You, in a uproar, me, trying to explain and help balance the idea. After all, if miners just throwed out every Diamond that was even the slightest bit dirty then we wouldn't HAVE Diamonds now would we? For starters, did Gredd at ANY point say "This is the only possible way to mine an asteroid"? No, he even said, and i quote "You Could Mine Them Yourself, But It'd Take Ages", so you have no reason to be saying this is the equivalent of hacking, since making the machine do it for you is optional. In Minecraft, or atleast in the Tekkit pack you needed a total of 5 Diamonds to make ONE quarry. ONE. And Diamonds in Minecraft are to some degree hard to find. See? A modder thought calmly how to balance it out and thought "I know! I'll make it require Diamonds!". And why not have it the same way? The machine could take some hard to find minerals, would need power, constant upgrading to be able to mine any hard ores, and the noise might attract attention from all the mobs on the surface. See? Easy way of balancing. Not trying to be mean, it just hurts when all someone does is critizise but doesn't contribute anything to the arguement.
You could mine them yourself, but it'd take ages... Why would I bother then? You could cross the mountain with this bridge, or you could walk a 1,000 miles. Obviously that just makes the other option non-existent. Just the first post Gredd made was so simple and explained basically nothing, if he/she explained it the same way you did, maybe I'd look at it in another way. The whole upgrading your machine to get it to mine deeper sounds good, gives me another reason to go ahead and find and salvage things to upgrade it, but the way Gredd said it made it sound like. " This robot mine for you, this robot good. " This kind of reminds me of another game made by a university student. You mine objects and instead of them magically going into your non-existent bag, you had to build machines that would carry the minerals vertically and horizontally up to your space station.
You mean Dig N Rig? I have that game. Played it through to the end and never played it again. But then really it's just a blame game. You for not contributing or him for not thinking of it. I personally think it's even handed, but that's just me.
just watched the dig n rig gameplay vid from yogscast. Looks interesting, the only thing i remember is megabomb lol
