It says to expect character wipes. Not them removing planets.

No. You, again, did not read. I've stated how many times I'm fine with character wipes? I'm not fine with them removing certain planets.

Basically, they added some asteroid fields into the universe generator, the thing has a limit too. Last I remember it can only handle 26 million seeds, I guess some of those turned into Asteroid fields for you know, variety.

One more thing, seeds will be randomized a lot as patches come along to facilitate the changes to World Generation, so even if said planet stayed there, it would be a different one.

What happened to context here? Are we talking about real houses now? Or houses in the Starbound beta stage 1 that are attached to characters and universes that most likely won't be compatible (good example here!) in future versions and we were told to expect things like this? If it's the latter, no I wouldn't be upset in the slightest since I chose to play during this stage.

Let's assume you got cheated and you are right, so what? Nothing is gonna happen, no one is going to care, just deal with it and start over.

It's a beta, you don't expect them to cherry pick things NOT to wipe, you should go in full well expecting EVERYTHING to go every now and then, comes with the territory, just suck it up and move on.

  6. In a nutshell man, when they add stuff to the universe it gets wiped and a new universe forms with new planet locations and coordinates, planets aren't getting "destroyed" persay, the universe itself gets rewritten and a new one forms with new locations and coordinates is all. It's been like this since the first update and will continually get wiped every time they add new biomes and planet types etc. so get used to it.

The people of Alderaan weren't asked, either.

They just didn't go to forums to complain about it! =)

Take a deep breath and try to remember that this is just a game. I think you are taking this WAAAAAAYYYY to seriously. Your "home planet" was not real and nobody blew up your house. You may want to take a break from it all if this has got you this worked up. It's a little concerning that this is something that would be high on anybodys concerns with all of the real things out there you could be worried about.

  9. Is it that hard to understand that the character/world wipes will occur when some drastic changes are made to how worlds and characters work? There's no other way to put this, just... deal with it as everyone else, sorry :wut:

I'll lock this now, everything that could be said has already been already said I think, if you need anything else just PM me OP :)

So should I expect them to remove EVERTHING from the game? There's a massive difference between deleting a character and removing content.

I go to the forums to complain about it because, unless you're saying Chucklefish is a terrible company, they'll listen if people are upset over things. I've seen other people post about losing their home planets to asteroid fields as well, and I was bringing it up.

A common misconception is that you have received beta access in order to play the game earlier.
You have access to the beta so that you can playtest the game and thereby support the develpment.
You may boldly complain about wipes or "content removal" after 1.0 is out, but for now stop whining. In fact a lot of people around the forums should playtest more and bitch around less.

YES!!! yes you do! You are expected to think that if it's necessary.

They wiped your universe and every one else, not because they want to, but because it's necessary. If they didn't wipe it, it'd be pretty hard to make it so that asteroid fields and whatever new content they added during the patch would spawn correctly, wouldn't it? I mean, you'd already have a set universe, with who knows how many planets visited already that are saved in your universe. They can't just make new content automatically spawn on old content, they basically need to 'overwrite' it to put it simply.

So for example, your old universe generation code wouldn't have asteroid fields and new content spawning but your new universe generation code does, which is why it needed to be wiped.

Also, it'd really help if instead of simply saying "BETA, expect wipes" people would explain it to the person. That way I don't have to come in due to someone being reported for being rude. I'd be probably be a little rude too if I asked a question and everyone simply answered "it's expected, it's a beta". C'mon.
