    Will there be anything like random attacks on your base/house?
    Edit: I also thought about attacking some other players base, so there will be somethin like this, or your house is unattackable?

    Will there be roadwork infrastructure constructed in the game prior to a player's input? Say, maybe built by NPC's or past civilizations?

    I'm very sad, now. I love playing stealthy in RPGs, and was looking forward to it in this game. Oh well. Hooray for Creepers. Bring on the Diggles!

    Just wanted to share my opinion on the subject, and this seems the best place.

    Basically, it seems inconsistent to share the universe between players but NOT share it between characters of one player. Although there are possible situations, where the player wishes to have two different universes, like the one where his planet of dreams was somehow "ruined" by his or others' actions. Also, there is hardcore mode, where idea is basically to lose everything when you die, and it is not so hardcore to have an access to infrastructure you've built already with other character.

    So, I suggest this solution or something close to it.

    1. By default, characters do share one universe. I can make an Avian and build something, then I can log in with Hylotl and visit that construction. Both for single and multi player.
    2. By default, universe of the first character has a number, like #1, and could be renamed by player, for example "Experimental Universe". When player creates a new character, there should be an option to create a new universe for this character, with brief explanation about consequences, like inability to visit this #2 universe by other previously made characters. Also, something about HDD space which will be occupied by two universes now.
    3. By default, each hardcore character is being created in his own universe, which is being deleted when all hardcore characters signed to this universe die. Only one character per player can join a multiplayer hardcore universe. Hey, hardcore means self-imposed restrictions anyway.
    4. There are no way softcore and mediumcore characters could join hardcore universe.
    5. Probably softcore and mediumcore universes are also divided, so when I make a mediumcore Floran in singleplayer, I can't join my two previously made softcore universes. This may be not a hard restriction, but by default it should work this way, especially in multiplayer.
    6. An option to switch a universe for character, but with consequences. For example, quest results, various character achievements, reputation et cetera erases when a character switches universes. All he has is his ship and equpment, but he is basically a new character in this universe.

    Good points. But, I'm also wondering why we just don't do it in the manner that Terraria pioneered. When you start Starbound, you select/make the character that you want to play, then you select/create the universe you want to play in.

    Naturally, with Starbound, each "new universe" will always have the same stars and planets. But, since the universe is almost infinate, and since you start out at different, random coordinates, it really doesn't matter. Might as well be a new universe, except you have the possibility to visit anew any old planets that you liked in a previous game.

    This way it can be done either way, removing any need for debate. It's a good method. As they say, if it ain't broke, then don't fix it.

    I concur. Although it seems like running into the same planet twice sounds unlikely, I'd still feel more comfortable in a 'clean' universe. At the very least I'd appreciate the an option between the two possibilities.

    On a side note: to all the people who keep asking about a trailer for the game... I always thought this WAS the trailer :wut:



    I mean yeah, it's a building demo and all, and it only shows ONE feature of the game, but I dunno. It has the feeling about it that makes me want to know more. :) And that's what I feel a trailer should do.

    Besides - I would like to think that anyone who's been trolling these forums long enough has been following the daily updates, looking at fan-made news articles, watching livestreams and videos on youtube of game footage. Do we really NEED a trailer? I'd rather the devs focus on making the actual game rather than working toward selling it to us when it's not even finished yet.

    Will there be a sort of cause and effect? Like if you fail to complete a certain quest, would an NPC be possibly killed or a village razed.

    That is not true, the Building Demo shows building, building gun, and building with friends. It also shows/demonstrates traps, jumping, sounds, music, placing items and it even shows potentially how wiring works. I am sure there are other features, but those appear to be the main.

    ... I'd appreciate if you read everything I wrote. I acknowledged the fact that it's the building demo, but I was implying that it might as well be the trailer.     I was going off of the point where you said building Demo only "One" feature in the game, I was stating that it shows off more than one. As for a trailer, I feel it works as a teaser trailer then it would a real trailer.

    Semi-Game Related: When you wake up every day or stay up none stop working on the game, what hearty breakfast is preferred and how many energy drinks/cups of coffee have y'all since gone through?

    Also: Are there cheeseburgers in the game? I want to open up a space McDonalds in one of the player hosted servers :/
