the basic idea of this is weapons/equipment built into armour, think of it like ironman, he can shoot beams out his hands but his hands are free these would be like a shoulder mounted turrents(some auto some manual), wrist-mounted grapling hooks, chest cannons and pretty much anything you can use with your hands remaining free lasers ) you could then bind each piece of equipment to any unused key
I got a vision or a predator from the alien movies lol. Shoulder slots would be a plus for exploration tho, Could mount lights and autocannons.
though there would need to be some kind of balance sense 2 auto cannons seems a bit over powered unless there weak as hell, maybe slow the user down? also was thinking something smiler to the gurrens left arm from code geass
I like this idea, armor and weapons in one! Lots of coding like how SupaTigaPoo said, but is an awesome idea
It really depends how the current code looks like and how much crudeness could players forgive for a chance to have integrated weaponry. If there are some sort of flags tracking what's equipped etc some hacky-way of force-equipping an arm-gun as an active weapon and setting the attack sprite as just the character lifting his arm to shoot as well as forcing equipped arm-gun deletion upon armor's removal would suffice. Of course, it would be crude and prevent some rather obvious actions such as actually having a weapon in hands to shoot with but possibly at least wouldn't require too much of a new code. In the end, I didn't see nor I can even presume how the code responsible for such things looks like. And even if I'd see the code itself, probably without explanation I'd have some problems with understanding it anyway (I don't even know in what language the game is being coded) so don't assume my message is anything but a speculation on par with others.
I think this is a good idea, but they should be VERY weak, like an Electric suit should have an EMP blast AUTOMATICALLY when your low health, and the enemy will be stunned for 3 seconds so you can run away. As in for the mounted machine gun thing, HELL YES, but it should be very weak, but have a strong knock back, but for armour equipment I think they should be like, ways to ESCAPE in this case the Electric Suit description I gave, and the Machine gun, it does like 5 damage per shot, but shoots fast, and has a normalish knock back, and it will take up energy As for the EMP blast it will take out all of the opponents energy and take 50% away from you, wile stunning the enemy.
I don't see why such armour's weapons should be weak if implemented as long as it's properly balanced with the cost of armor's production and general effectiveness at intended level of difficulty. Also, as for EMP, I'd rather have it quite effective (as in, rather damaging, not only stunning) against electronics-based enemies and quite worthless against biological, low-tech ones. Seems a bit more realistic to me, even if oversimplified. Being relatively much or not? I am not aware how much HP will typical medium-level enemy have. Will it be 10? 100? 100000?
I was saying this in a defensive way, the shots are weak but high knock backs shooting the enemies with ONE shot every 5 seconds when under 25% health, this will happen Automatically Offensive is when you use a turret, or whatever you might think of, with high damage to take down the enemies health, again this will only shoot ONE shot every 5 seconds, NOTE: this turret will be as strong as end game damage IF! the armor is endgame ARMOR
