I think most of the two handed guns already look like that because one of the arms is completely hidden behind the gun graphic. If you really wanted something more obviously arm-mounted, it would be easy to mod in some additional graphics for them as well.
This kinda sounds like something you should have put in the thread Tiy made when asking people what their favorite sci-fi weapon is. On the other hand, this would be a nice idea as a weapon type of it's own if given attributes no other range weapon would have. Like if you were dual wielding them and you could fire a slower shot at first with one and use the other to add power to it and turn it into something else. Kinda like what they did in the Megaman X games.
I found this to be a very good idea in some all Scifi stories. Namely star trek and starwars, where those "bar of soap" phase pistols they have get kicked/force-pulled out of their hands EVERY FRIGGN EPISODE! Had they attached the pistol to their wrist like space ghost. So many lives would have been saved. Back in high school I made a drawing of something further on this subject no clue where it went. It's very ideal in CQC situations though, say you were fighting a jittery space bug that only dies to a lot of limb damage/crits like the arachnids from SST or Dead-space necromorphs. Instead of keeping a side arm on your potentially severed leg, you can keep an pistol attached to your wrist, activated by your gauntlet. Best part of it, you never have to draw the weapon! Just program the gauntlet to fire when you flip someone the bird. BOOM! I just made this concept of action/comedy cinematic value!
If those weapons will be added to Starbound, then... Hmmm... I think I'll play as female human. Her name will be Samus Aran. If you understand what I mean...
Arm cannons are creeping me out. Just imagine going to a gunshop, choosing a fancy little armgun, chopping your arm off and attaching the arm cannon instead. If you go akimbo, you won't be able to hold a cup of goddamn coffee anymore. or scratch your ear. or having fun when you're lonely. However I would love to see them ingame, but don't count on me using any of them.
Oh yes I do. Hehehe. Just hope you can get some kind of pocket portable vehicle which is a ball you can ride. And have a mod that drops bombs
While the concept is pretty simplistic, I could definitely see it being in Starbound. Personally, I think it would most likely be some sort of cross between a "Tech" item and a gun, which would, appropriately, run on energy as stated by Tiy (the reason behind it being a Tech item would be, at least as far as I have seen, tech items are equipped on the player character, such as this one wrist-watch/bracelet-looking item I recall having seen in one of the older screenshots).
I like the idea of arm cannons. Samus has one, Megaman has one, Starbound should have at LEAST one. (they're freakin' AWESOME!)
In the case of Samus, her arm cannon is around her arm-- She still has her hand when she is in her Zero Suit. In the case of Mega Man, his hand pops out when he needs it in the cartoon show, but that isn't cannon (lol pun). EDIT: I suppose Barret Wallace actually lost his arm, but he could get a prosthesis like Luke Skywalker. EDIT2: Hey, you could get a hook arm and a paper hat and pretend you are playing Treasure Adventure Game.
how about make the arm cannon a bracelet that extends into an arm cannon when needed for battle? someone sprite this!
Only one thing beats random generated guns and that's random generated cyborg weapons. But they would have to be high level tier and pretty potent. Give me a reason to chop my arm off and replace it with a cannon.
Yes. That too. And Marshal, Wrist pistols could be a great alternative to you humans who don't have replaceable parts.
