Argus Queen The Argus queen is a primitive creature, it's soar high in the sky and looks for it's prey. They seem to be similar to Echinoderms ( like earth's starfish ) but they have evolved a gas bladder that keeps them floating in the air. And it's seem to be more similar to eart's ants or wasps in behavior. Alone the Argus queen do not pose a threat, but because of the nature of the creature its never alone. Its method of hunting is sending it's harvesters from a safe distance to neutralize or kill the prey, then bring it back to herself. Argus harvester The Argus harvester dropps down as a pod from the slimy mouth of the queen. Then it opens up it's shell to extend its long thin leggs and reveal its tentacles. it is fast and agile, but very frail. It's method of attacking it's prey is to latch onto it with it's small sharp teeth, and then inject digestive fluids to kill and disolve it's prey. usualy the queen dropps about 10-15 podds at a time. General space adventurer's Advice If you see a swarm of harvesters coming towards you, it is best to try to dispatch as many as possible at range. A couple of harvesters have been seen taking down prey several times larger than themselves. If you manage to disable all of them, it's advisable to take down the queen as fast as possible before she lunch more pods. Ingame mechanics The queen's main attack is to lunch her Harvesterpods at the player. she will try to avoid direct combat, and will try to flee if attaced directly. Ranged weapons will be the best way to kill the queen, since she is floating in the air. There will be a delay between when she can lunch harvesterpods, so it's crusial to kill her before she lunch more harvesters. The harvesters will be a weak swarm enemy , with high attack and low healt. easy to kill, but hard to survive it they overrun you. Argus queen will mostly be found on low gravity planets, as high gravity planets wouldn't let her float very well with her gas sack. In advance i apology for any bad grammar, English is not my first language.
That looks pretty interesting indeed! I wonder how big the Queen is? I am almost looking at her as a mini boss type of monster, which would be pain in the butt to deal with if she would keep floating up in the air ha
Thanks =) I'm trying to make a sprite of what she might looks like ingame(size and graphics), but i have never drawn sprites before. =( The idea is that she will try to flee if attacked directly. So the key to kill her is to rush inn with all the firepower you got, as fast as you can when she is alone (no harvesters around). I was thinking that would be more interesting than a enemy with a large health pool. Just shooting at it for 5 minutes . I haven't seen SOA's entry, so i cant comment on that (link?) . But the Argus queen i made in paint only with my imagination and inspiration from some insects.
