    I just now woke up and stumbled my way over to Tiy's Twitter to see some people aren't happy with the pre-order funds also being used for living expenses. Which I wasn't even aware people had a problem with, to be honest, and I find it pretty...I don't know, rude, with how those people are being. Though I hope the other two responding "get a real job" and "money is for people who have a job nerds" are just joking around. ._.

    But now I wonder if others feel that way about living expenses. Let's keep it civil, please, without calling the developers names and such.

  2. That was the point since it First Started. Making possible the DEV team full-time Starbound without need second jobs, etc...
    Both ways, the money is helping Starbound to come out faster.

    Yes. Working two jobs is time consuming, and with one or maybe even both jobs out of the equation, they can really focus down on the game and not "how am I going to keep the heat on next month".

    As long as the money is used to get the game out faster, I don't see a reason to be unhappy.

    As far as I can see, being a game developer is a job, and so it is fair that they get paid. You know, so they can eat and stuff.

    I just trust the developers to be living off their paychecks, and not using development money for random stuff.

    I don't care, I pay for game they do whatever they want with money as long as game is guaranteed.

    Yeah, not sure how I'd feel if the money was used to buy new game consoles or hookers or something. >_>;

    Wow, people will never be happy with something anyone will do. it's really heart breaking. Well my opinion is this, as long as it's helping them out in real life and develop the game we're all waiting for I don't mind. People need to eat and live their life too, rejecting them that choice in life just so we can have a 15$ game rushed is just asking for too much.

    Do people understand how life works? you need money just to LIVE a relatively comfortable life. The whole point of us giving them money is so that they don't have to work another job other than developing Starbound or whatever else chucklefish decides to work on. Also life is expensive, you need, food, heat, a shelter, clothing, internet ( for the coding and what not) water, electricity. not to mention creature comforts. and up till the preorder the devs had to pay for these things by getting another job.
    people are just stupid.

    Not entirely sure what else the money should have been used for. Physically showing it into their computers and hardware? :p

    The "thing" making the game come into existence is the developers, and so it only makes sense for them to spend the money on themselves, be that for food, housing, relaxation or whatever else people normally use money on (read: everything in the known universe). It is their job after all, and they should get paid for it :)

    People should just think about it like this: The money is being used to keep the devs alive and kicking, therefore allowing them to program the game we all want so much. What's there to complain about?

    In this world, everyone will find a reason to complain. But yea 1 million dollars for the devs to enjoy is nice, I don't understand why people would not want the money to be spent ot make development go quicker. I guess they just want the money to just sit there and rot away.

    The pre-orders were opened up so the team wouldn't have to work two jobs just to make ends meet. Now they can focus on the game full-time. That was the whole point, and that was always something Tiy has been completely open and honest about. It's even in the pre-order FAQ:

    People that complain about this failed to read properly before placing their pre-order, or they seriously have nothing better to do with their time.

    Yeah, the tweet in question, by some Joe guy, was saying how he wouldn't pre-order for that reason. And I was just like....huh?!
