I wish it would be done sooner, but I don't want them to rush either. I voted not really, but it's not a good polling question. There is no meaningful data that can be derived from the choice people make here, only the comments. I wish Starbound was finished before this summer just gone. Now it's looking like it will be finished halfway through my second year of studies taunting and distracting me. So I need to find some willpower from somewhere haha. Anyway. I'm not unhapy with the development speed and first glance at the choice of options made it very hard to choose from them. If I could change my vote now I'd put it on yes, sometimes it takes writing out a comment to discover how you really feel yourself about it. And the reason for yes is because I truly believe the Starbound team are doing everything to bring the game to us as fast as possible, but without compromising on quality.

tl:dr Yes because reasons. Not a good polling question.

Why is it Hipocrisy? I think most of the people that chose that option, replied to the thread and said why they did it (that is including me). So please, if you don't mind, read all the replies, and then you can give your opinion and say why it's hipocrisy. Thank you. (Not trying to be offensive by any means)

I was clarifying the reason I feel the way I do. There's no need to attack me for it, you're just creating a toxic environment with that attitude. I have a right to still be bothered, especially considering the "no refunds" policy.

The current stable build is not even a beta. I could accept a beta, where they're just working on frills and bug-hunting. But they're still in early alpha and working on core mechanics of their engine.

Regardless of how any of you feel, I didn't attack anyone's optimism or stance on Chucklefish's development speed.

  8. You picked something to point out that's been said literally thousands of times, by people who hide behind that single comment made in error. You're bringing up an out-dated argument based on a "never forgive, never forget" mentality. My actual point in the first post remains valid. It was a mistake and they owned up to it. It's unreasonable to expect that they should reimburse people who've used their product for extended periods of time. They're going to make good on their commitment, people just need to accept that it's going to take far longer than they anticipated. Once you get past that, it's just a waiting game. Also, it's not up to you to decide what is or is not a beta.

So I reasonable and calmly state my viewpoint, and then I'm not allowed to defend myself when people attack me for it? I didn't derail this thread, it was those who couldn't believe that I could find fault with Chucklefish. Guess that's how it goes. Go ahead and ban me, there's no point in needing the ability to post around here.

  10. What? That's not what I was telling you to do at all. By all means, defend your opinions. But do so in a thread appropriate for it. This is not that thread. I'm telling you AND Maxwell to drop it -- or you'll receive warnings or temp bans.

I don't care. I've already had my fifteen bucks worth of fun. Besides, there are thousands of other games to waste my time on while I wait for Starbound to be finished.

I don't understand what is hypocritical about choosing "don't care"

To amend at least for myself, I haven't until this post actually posted my opinion/thoughts on it. Like the person that added that option and those that chose it, I don't really care about the development speed, since it is apparent that they are working on the project and will eventually get it done. It is more running on faith/trust that they will release eventually rather then on a specific when it will be released.

What matters to me is that it is released. Not how fast things are going along or coming out. I am more interested in them taking their time to get things the way they deem worthy to release. Worrying about speed to me is nothing more than trying someone's patience. I just happen to be too patient in this respects having my mind on the goal on completion rather than how long it will take to get there.

That and I am easily entertained, so I have lots of other games I can play in the meantime including the default stable branch of this game. I deem it playable as it is playable, just not fun for all. For me it is still fun even in the stable, if/when I wanted to play it or feel like playing it. Development process varies from game to game and I have learn to expect this, and have built up my patience from that among other things. What I am most excited about is what progress that are showing to us, after all it is up to them how long something will take; it is their game after all. :)

I voted I don't care. It is done when it gets done. I waited 12 years for Starcraft 2. I didn't mind one bit.
Though the launch trailer was a punch in the gut especially the last line.

I posted a shortened clip of just that last line when they announced the beta. I think it got more than 50 likes.

I voted "Yes." As far as I'm concerned, I took a risk that was made known to me before I purchased the game and it paid off. I spent $15 on a game that was "unfinished" and I was able to dump 70 hours of my free time into it even in it's "unfinished" state. A highly-enjoyable 70 hours, mind you. So if the developers want to throw even more content at me before Starbound's definitive release then I'll allow it (lol). But I don't feel that it's reasonable for me to expect all of this additional content within a specific time-frame. I'm no programmer... any complaints I have would be made out of ignorance. So what's the point in complaining?

That's my two cents on the matter. I'm sure once all of this negativity blows over and the game is out of beta then I'll be able to drop another 70 hours into the game easily. Until then, I have plenty of other things to keep me occupied.
