Are you going to terraform your planet?

I'm interested in taking a planet and turning it into a water planet. Ie, a planet where the water is at a higher level than any of the terrain.

I mostly want to make a planet like this, since I doubt there will be any water planets in the planet generator (though who knows) And whether I'll have tools achieve this is unknown also. I'm really hoping it doesnt involve millions of jugs of water.

Comets will hopefully produce lots of water.

It really depends if you can I might, then again removing the wonder of the randomly generated world to make it more familiar could be boring. I am not forcing my opinion on any one just putting out a discussion point.

I don't really think there is a need to transform anything. You simply find planet that you like with terrain and stats that you like, and leave it as it is.

Also I never really heard about any official terraforming tools, as in converting entire planet to different biome wise. If you are talking about just bringing soil from different planet and starting new biomes "manually", then I probably will create mini biomes from different planets on my home planet, just to have some diversity.

Well if you can't terraform, would you at least be able to make a facility that is suitable for life and make farms and such inside the facility away from the hostile environment?

Be kinda neat if you could build machines to Planaform planets or patches of planets.

You could change a small chunk of volcanic world to more habtable to grow crops and such.

That way you could make differing conditions on one home world.

You would of course need the appropriate signs when transitioning between zones

    while in Slime Zone

Make the device fueled so if you forget the fuel the planet slowly takes back its terrain.

Last i've heard, Ya can Terraform Home Worlds with a 'UFO-like Ship', or something like that, but only your Home World(s). (& having more than one Home World is gonna be most likely to be too costly for a single player, but perhaps not a group of people, like a Clan or a Corp.)

I think i've heard of Worlds that are mostly Ocean with only sparse dotting of little Islands here & there... after those Islands are dug out/removed, a Ocean Planet with nothing but Water on the Surface is bound to be feasible. :) (I would be surprised if there were no Explosives in the game for faster Terrain Removal as well. ;))

Edit: Oh, duh, almost forgot to actually answer the Topic Question: Yes, I am likely to find something I like that's 'close enough' to my Home World of choice & use Terraforming to tweak it the rest of the way to my future Dream Planet.

Edit 2: To those that believe in leaving their World in a natural state, if ya do that, how are ya supposed to make your world feel 'yours'? :wut:

I'll probably settle on a 100 difficulty charred lava world and create a big dome with freezing ice plain beneth it just to build my little cozy house with fridge and TV inside it.
P.S. And if the first 100 difficulty world that I find wont be charred... oh, well - too bad for it.

Terraform? No, of course not, don't be silly. I'm going to build it from scratch.

I am not sure I see the point of terraforming. Looks like there's lots of temperate type planets, if that's what one wants. Looks like Starbound doesn't have much in the way of violent atmosphere stuff, either. Besides, isn't it the point of the game where every planet is semi-unique in it's own way? Any reason why we'd want to change that?

    Because I can!
No, srsly. I definetly want to be able to turn garden-planet into boiling lava-hell.

Why terraform? What's more pleasant than an ice rock hazardous to all kind of living things, scourged by deadly, radioactive storms? That's where I want to live ^^

To get such a cozy place for yourself, of course! Why should you waste your time looking for marvelous frozen stoneball when you can create one from a paradise planet!

No. I'm going to leave my new home planet bitter and inhospitable. :wut: *crosses arms and pouts*
