Are you going to terraform your planet?

Probably not. If I could make it rain/snow forever, on the other hand, I might. But as for changing the actual biome/topography it sounds like a grind I'd rather not engage in.

I'll just fuck up the whole world until it doesn't make any sense.

For the most part, I think I'm going to settle on a planet I already like, but I would still love to terraform because it's a part of the game and experiencing the game in its entirety is something I look forward to.

My planet shall be a big mass of water. No earth anywhere, just water and floating cities. Yes.

Ill just screw over the environment, then cover the planet in steel buildings.
Basically what us humans are doing now.
But Ill do it on a much larger scale.

I hope you can blow up the planet or make a death star, anyway terraforming it will be a end game feature no?

Depends on what options we have. I'd surely tweak the colors if they aren't perfect to my liking.
If we can decide which creatures and plants inhabit it, I might be changing that too.

Is it going to be similar to Spores terraforming where you use devices to reach a certain balance and introduce plants and animals from other planets?

That would be awesome. You could collect weird creatures from all around the universe make a huge zoo or hunting ground

I don't have any information on terraforming except that it's being discussed here. That's why I asked.

If it was done Spore style, it would make sense. Let's be honest here, Spore sucked, but the concept was great. If there were devices similar in Starbound that would add or remove atmosphere and add or remove heat that would make sense to me and it would obviously require high tech to make said devices.

But it's anything like the Genesis device where you just input your desired planet and that's it, I'd probably not be impressed. I'd like to see devices continuously working to keep the terraformed planet to your desired state. It makes sense scientifically too since if you're not in the Goldilocks Zone, you're going to degrade over time. So you would need something to continuously apply these changes. The Genesis Device doesn't do that nor does it explain how it maintains that state regardless of solar position.
