Are they gonna force us to make new characters for the ship update?

They don't make you create a new character for each new update? What, are you doing that, making a new character for each new update, even when your characters aren't wiped?

 

they are not telling you to wipe your character, you can keep playing willi nilly without experiencing the new content update. they advise to fully test (which is our job at this point) with a new character

in saying that i have about 6/7 characters i use Lol one for new each update lol

 

i never said you owned the forums. but you seemed to imply that you owned the thread just because you made the opening post

 

To be honest. You created a thread on a public forum. You are only entitled to keeping the posts on topic and keeping the peace, as much as possible. The mods/admins can do what they will with the thread because they technically "own" the thread.

 

I am very excited for the next wipe, if it wasn't a huge update with massive changes then it probably wouldn't require a wipe.

Keep in mind that we are still in stage 1: Progenitor, and changes will come hard and fast.

Part of the purpose of these forums is to get input/advice from the players in order to really make it the game we will love. and part of that means completely overhauling parts of the game, making them completely incompatible with the current system. And Tiy did state that they are trying to create an update system that requires less wipes, possibly only 1 more. What that tells me is that the foundation for the game is nearly at a state that they want it to be (like the basic physics, planet creation, the base things like that). I'm just guessing on that last part, but I am very excited for the next update/wipe.

 

The past patches that have not included a wipe have not required us to make new characters to see and use the new content.

They only recommend a new character so that you can experience the changes as a whole instead of "Oh, I just use the Starship Upgrade again and unlock new recipes.".

If they do not wipe characters it is entirely optional to create a new character, they aren't forcing you to do anything.

 

Yep. This is exactly it. Good job. The devs indeed have posted about this sort of thing. They, themselves, do not like wiping characters. They want to stay away from it as much as possible. I do think that is why they are taking more time on these next few patches, aside form holidays, to solve that issue to not have to wipe out characters. (I am also agreeing with this post. Heh.)
