hey i got spawned on a really tiny planet, i could walk arround it for 2 minutes and be back at the spawn point.

But are there planets that are infinite in size? or just really big?

I've seen incredibly large planets (it would seem the size they appear in the star map is related to the size they are when you land) but infinite? How long would you run in one direction before declaring a planet 'infinite'?

It varies (size on your starmap helps determine that), but none of them are infinite.

Place a marker structure somewhere on the planet, and eventually as long as you keep going the same direction and don't get eaten by a monster you will get back to that structure as you go round the planet. There are no infinite sized planets, but some of them are very large.

Some pretty huge planets too me about 20 minutes of walking to get back to the starting point. I don't think "infinite planets" are a thing, I just think some are so huge you get bored way before you even reach the other side of them.

I've had some which took me 40-45m. That was in the days before I had the dash tech though, with it or the bubble thing it goes alot faster.

I've found quite a lot of 1+ hour planets, but none of them seemed to suggest they'd be quite that huge when viewed from orbit. I assumed this was a bit of a bug (or that there's a hard cap on planet sizes in orbit view), but nevertheless there are very large planets out there. I'm now in the habit of placing a few blocks in a Y shape near the beamdown point so I can tell when I've seen everything.

I tried mining surface ores and casual exploration of natural tunnels on a huge jungle planet once. It took hours to reach the start marker (a torch I placed). I've since decided to only look for (and mine deeply) in tiny and small planets as doing that again is just tiring and boring after awhile.
