I think their lore resembles South American Native traditions more than Mexican traditions. They remind me of the Aztecs and the civilization from The Road to El Dorado animated movie.

EDIT: As Felonious pointed out, Aztecs were indeed in Mexico and not South America.

I feel like they also have a bit of Ancient Egypt in them as well, but they primarily are made to resemble Aztecs, Incas and Mayans. Which, I suppose, was Mexico a long long time ago.

Geez, why would they be Mexican? ... They are based off a mix of Mayan & Azetec cultures.

 

To be fair, Aztecs were the civilization that ruled much of Central America when European explorers (Spanish) began exploring that part of the world. That included the region that is now Mexico.

Specifically they mimic the Mayans according to the wiki, which were a distinct pre-colonial, South American empire different from the Aztecs, though shared a lot of belief and cultural elements (ie. feathered serpent gods). Notably they created the rather famous Nazca Lines among other things...

Same thing, it simply wasn't a very well thought out question. Especially since you also had Tribal cultures like Aztecs in areas such as Brazil, whom also had European influences (Portuguese). Also not all that different from Egyptians and Nubians.

No, because the Apex are based off of 1984 by George Orwell. Meanwhile, the Avians are much more reminiscent of Ancient Mexican cultures.

 

Um, the Mayans are Central American, not South American (you may be thinking of the Inca), and had nothing to do with the Nazca Lines, which were built by the Nazca in South America. They lived in the Yucatan peninsula and the surrounding areas, including Belize, Guatamala, and, yes, Mexico (although, as noted above, their connection to Mexican culture is a bit more tenuous).

 

Avians very closely resemble Central and Southern American tribal groups. Even their god, Kluex, has a similar name. Mayans, Incans, Aztecs, and similar.

In all honestly, I would say partially, but not entirely.
