Sheriff was more than a little confused as to the flurry of activity, discussion, and people erupting around him. To top it all off, it had stopped raining in the span of a heartbeat, and a feral, crazed Floran covered in dangerous red nettles still stood opposite him. All-in-all, it was shaping up to be one hell of a day. Sighing, Sheriff said to the Floran, "Listen, I know things are gettin' hectic and I apologize on their behalf for distrubin' the peace 'round here. We'll be on our way soon as we can, sir."
Nettles nodded to sheriff "be careful with sssmoke sticks, they make big fire, nettles get hurt last time." He rolled down his sleeves and put back on his gloves "Nettles know island like back of hand, where you need go? Nettles want make sure no badnesss happen."
Sheriff made a point of crumbling the cigarette he currently had into tobacco dust, opting instead to place a pad of smokeless tobacco into his face-opening. "I hear ya' chief, no more smokin' for ol' Sheriff." Spitting into the jungle, he turned back to the Floran, extending his hand for a handshake. "We're lookin' for a group of researchers, scientists, explorers. Y'know the type. Seemed to have crash landed here a while back, and seems we found a few of 'em, but it'd be mighty helpful if you could point us in the right direction." Sheriff motioned to the commotion behind him, adding,"S'kinda hard to keep the kiddies in line, if ya know what I mean." He spat again, perturbed by the fact that he could catch flashes of brand-metal amid the discolored spit.
Nettles shook his hand after securing his glove in place, something was special about this floran's skin, quite obviously. He took out a whistle and said to sheriff "glowy man might want to cover.... ears? I quite everyone and get attention... This also make big badsss go away." He took a deep breath in then blew into the whistle as hard as he could which caused an ear splitting screech.
Eitama coughs. "Because of the importance of sharp hearing to their continued survival as a race, the Avali have internal mechanisms that serve to protect their hearing from loud noises. Tiny filaments on the tips of their ears detect incoming noises above a certain volume threshold and reflexively relax the inner organs of the ear before the shockwave reaches them. This helps protect the Avali from hearing loss and gives them some resistance to sonic weaponry." -The Official Avali WIki
Silas pulls up the map on his codex. After looking for any landmarks, he orie.ts himself to a particularly tall tree and starts heading in the direction of the X.
Hunter slaps his ears, a little dizzied by the intense sounds, his ears still ringing. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT" Hunter realizes he's shouting and pipes down "Sorry. Where is this anyway?"
Nettles puts his whistle away and says "nettles think you no rush, big bads like it when prey run." He pointed off in a bush that had a few large animals hiding in the shadows, they have there ears down and they're watching nettles closely.
Sheriff glanced nervously over at the bushes. "I'll keep that in mind, thank ya kindly." The human known as Hunter caught his eye, talking and walking with another person. "Hey, just wait a darn minute!" he started, spitting as he called out to the duo. "Ya'll are suppose'ta be showin' us to the rest of the others!"
Jackson looked around at the area, he examined the dirt even more a sometimes felt the shrubbery. "Theres something special here. I feel it." He said to everyone. "We need to do something but I'm not sure. It doesn't have to do with researchers." He then looked again but with a little more curiosity, but he thought off the cat who was killed by curiosity, and boy he did not want to be that cat.
"Oh yeah, right, don't worry guys the ship isn't that far away, just keep walking in that direction and you should see it in a couple minutes." Hunter half jogging away "Sorry to leave you hanging but something came up, I'm not sure who exactly the researchers are but Aquari is still in the ship, Mikov's out searching some stuff, and who knows what the others are doing." Hunter follows after Silas.
Silas picks up his pace, he wanted to get away from the group as soon as he could. The only one that he had any sense of kinship with was Hunter.
'I have no idea, but we could always go back if it's nothing useful.' Silas looks around. 'We should be getting near, start looking for anything telling.' He slows down and looks around for anything out of the ordinary.
