April Newspaper Delayed

It is kinda the point of newsletters in general. They inform and give people something to look forward to reading.
Can't say I do myself, but I do get why many here are hopeful of receiving some big news.

After a few events in the IRC I think I'm already certain as to what is going to show up in the newsletter. I can't be too sure though.

You can check the list of medals though. It might contain a hint o3o

Well like I said, I don't know for certain what the "big thing" that one of the guys are saying, but the one I know sounds like it.

If there are 4 different rewards which one would be the best? Erhm Suika or any one have any ideas/guess? And how much for each?

Oh never mind I read in this thread it is probably 4 different rewards for chucklefishes different games and probably 10-15 dollars for preorder for starbound. So theres really only one preorder reward for Starbound, if the people who wrote about it in the other thread are right that is.

Or the other common thought in that thread was my original assumption and that is it could in fact be 4 different rewards for starbound based on how much you money you spent on the preorder.

 

I'm actually more curious as to how they're going to give all of those, or at least know if they did donate or something.

 

If I remember correctly, steam has a thing that lets websites track what games people have. I remember at one point a Garry's mod add-on download site used it to make sure people had bought the game, so I guess something similar could be used. Alternatively, pre-orders could be handled by chucklefish, and then transferred to steam at a later date, like what Squad did with Kerbal Space Program. That way, pre-orders could be directly connected to forum accounts.

This is all just idle speculation on my part, but I think it would make sense.

Well another thing to note is that Starbound isn't only on steam.

 

Well, yes, I suppose that is true. In that case, I suppose it's more likely to be something involving a purchase through a Chucklefish-regulated service or site.

 

They seem to me like they'd be 4 different rewards, as they're coloured by the rarity system of loot in Starbound (and many other games). Which is:
Grey = Common
Green = Uncommon
Blue = Rare
Purple = Epic/legendary/whatever it may be called

So from that, I would assume they're for different reward tiers and not for the different Chucklefish games. We'll just have to wait and see how it's gonna work though. Which shouldn't be too long now.

My bet is that they'll do something similar to several games ive seen do it.
Donate + provide e-mail address, and they give the prod key through that. Its not 100% foolproof, but it works. Alot of indie games are doing it that way, like Delvers Drop and Planetary Annihilation (though theirs was via kickstarter donations... still counts as donate xD)

 

But what about the people who use a different e-mail address? For example, I use one e-mail address for shenanigans and social stuff such as this forum, but I use a different one for more serious business.

 

There won't be in-game awards right?

 

Yeah Tiy said a couple times that they don't intend to give in-game rewards for preordering. Everyone gets the same product.
