Approximate time on the character wipe?

I know many people that are autistic. Maybe, Xathonn is. Is that a problem? Is he not allowed to play the game or post his opinion?

 

Because it takes time and effort to obtain those items. I enjoy building up my character, hording enough ore for whatever comes next, naturally, it makes me sad to loose all the profit that came out of my work.

 

I agree. I does suck, but character wipes are a part of the beta. I has been stated many times. I wish MooseLips could live forever, but sadly, I knew he would face a terrible end eventually.

 

Not to put you off of the game, but there is going to be a lot of wipes in the coming weeks, maybe you should wait until phase 2 of the beta, since wipes are supposed to be few to none at that point.

 

Just so you know, it's not a character wipe. It's a save-file wipe. Meaning anything you're storing will be gone too. The entire universe... will be reborn.

 

Going back to the original question - Do you guys know when the wipe shall descend upon us(approximately)? I can't wait to play Starbound with a permanent character.

Maybe in the next few hours, maybe tomorrow, we're not sure.

 

Alas, this wipe will only be the first. Chances are more will follow throughout Phase One of the Beta. That said, I'm not sure when the update hits.

Yeah, there's no point in gathering materials for your new character. It'll all disappear in the wipe. The files will just be incompatible with the newer version.

Probably in a day or two. Your death will be quick and easy, so don't worry.

 

I don't think that the Op (or really anyone else at this point in the Beta) is upset about character wipes. They're going to happen, we've been informed, we're all on board, and we're having a great time playing Starbound.

That being said I don't feel like it's a particularly great use of my time to build anything, explore, or progress my character if in 20 minutes it's all going to be wiped and I'll need to do the exact same thing all over again.

I understand that wipes are going to happen but because I now know that one is going to happen "Soon" it's a bit of a different situation. In my opinion unless they have a hard deadline for when exactly the character wipes are going to occur they shouldn't announce them. I'd rather enjoy the time I play instead of waiting for the impending doom to occur, lol.

As far as I got: We have no clue when it will happen(weeks to months) or if it will happen(most likely will).
