Approximate time on the character wipe?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I'd like to hear the latest update on the matter. Is it a done deal and there is no reason for me to collect items/mine for ore until it's upon us, if so, any ideas when it's coming, guys? And yes, I do know that devs have warned the community about the wipe, but I've managed to completely miss that, since I first saw the game three days ago and bought it right away:/ . It blows having such a fun game and not be able to play it properly due tot he fear of loosing all my work.

 

Considering your concerns, you may just want to shelve the game until Starbound is into the next stage of Beta Development. During the current stage that we are in, you should not be getting attached to anything and be focusing your efforts on finding bugs / issues and reporting on them.

I'm with you and so are many other people. Nobody wants to touch a game that will be wiped today tomorrow etc.

 

Well that depends on your idea of Properly. its beta which we are supposed to be testing which before being release was clearly stated that there would be wipes..... So I think the game is working properly at 15$ and 30 hours of play im at 50cents an hour for fun which I can live with any day of the week if only all fun was this cheap. But seriously dont get to attached, enjoy the ride, learn stuff, experiment, try and break it etc

 

Well, not nobody. I like having character wipes in betas. That way I can focus on finding issues and reporting them rather than worrying about making the perfect character. Plus, after a big change it can help to see the game from the very beginning again to really evaluate what is different.

Wow you are extremely narrow minded. Some people here want to play as soon as the wipe happens just to see the new bugs and give new feedback on the NEW system. They want to be pioneers. To be here for the exploration of new systems. Solar and game alike.

 

I have played for 91 hours. Knowing that an update is so close, whats the point in continuing if its all being wiped?

Haven't really felt like playing since the moon is falling.

I've just been toying with instruments.

 

Nobody is answering the question; just sort of either crucifying the OP for playing the game as if it were a full release or agreeing that a wipe kills the momentum (which it does.)
I'm also a little frustrated we've just been given "Sometime today or tomorrow." basically; I understand that it's a small developer but we had an almost exact time for the last update.
I want to start my new character asap.

 

I read someone on GAF say that the steam registry or whatever for Starbound was updated so it should be soon.

 

Oh, I definitely agree that current experience is worth the money, but I would like some sense of security when it comes to all the work I've put in/about to put in into my character. Either that, or some sort of idea on when and if the wipe is going to happen so I can save my efforts. I'm sure it's understandable.

That's a bit of a stretch, considering I've been hording good amounts of ore for my future endeavors for past three days : )

 

You cant tell people that the only point of this beta is to find bugs and report them. If this was a free beta or one that you were randomly selected for then ok thats fine. But this is a game that people have paid for. Yes we did know wipes are happening and thats fine but please dont tell people that they should be focusing on finding and reporting bugs.

Yeah; I'm playing the game for fun and reporting bugs that I find; I'm not pushing the game to it's limits or focusing on finding bugs in the most obscure places. That doesn't make me a bad beta tester just means I'm enjoying the game whilst testing.

It's beta, it's to be expected. After all, you are expected to go through the rebalance and give feedback. While some other games out there were released with a beta tag just to boost sales, this beta is a REAL BETA.
