I'm having trouble with multiplayer. I am hosting a server on a dedicated tower with DynDNS. I am able to connect by running a client on the server machine and my laptop, using but my local address and the DDNS domain. I am able to connect from outside the network with my laptop (tested using mobile hotspot). My friend was having trouble. They kept logging into my server only to be kicked. We kept solving one problem only to find another. (asset mismatch box unchecked, then mods didn't match the server, so I zipped up my whole mod folder and sent it via cloud, then they needed to upgrade their archive utility to correctly unzip) After they got the modpack installed correctly the game refused to load, just gave them an alert window full of code [IMG] https://imgur.com/a/FPH2i meanwhile Im reading THIS: https://community.playstarbound.com/threads/july-13th-build-unable-to-load-sb-error-message.117569/ however I'm running 1.3.3 stable version.... So my friend's taking a break from trying for now. Next step is to try backing up their save and reinstalling. Figured in the meantime I'd float this out here since the issue doesn't seem very well documented. Maybe someone else has some ideas?

EDIT: I Found this: https://community.playstarbound.com/threads/application-threw-exception-during-startup.126163/ looks like our exact issue, trying now.

When packing up files in a zip they mostly keep their permission settings. The saved permission settings might interfere with the settings used by your friend.
If he set up the permissions so that starbound itself is allowed to access the files everything should work.

Thanks for responding! I've passed that info along. They've made simple mods for starbound before and seemed to think the second forum I found made sense. I'll confirm here once I hear back.

They got it sorted. The server was fine. Played on it a couple hours. Functions but needs work. I need to hook up a router/harddrive backup thingy I've had in a box of stuff and upgrade my isp tho. Upload speed bottlekneck. Bridging the modem miiiiight let us get by. I only have 3-4 friends who want to play, but you know...
