I really want to like the Apex but I can't stand their lore. De-evolution? I mean, maybe if they reworded it to where it didn't sound so ridiculous.

I assume that the race is basically a parallel race of humans that evolved, like us, from another species of ape. I understand that they mention that they physically are regressing to a form that is more in line with previous evolutionary states but that does not mean that they are de-evolving. In a way they are getting the best of both worlds. A stronger physical form with a higher intelligence that often is associated with a weaker body.

I know that this is sci-fi but the sci part of it is really sloppy and could be a bit more convincing.

I want to like them...

 

Every time I see the Apex in this game, I am strongly reminded of the original Planet Of The Apes movie. Though the original movie was before my time, I've always found it fascinating.

The original movie came out in 1968. The 60s were all about racial tensions, but also about resolving such things because we had Martin Luther King Jr. , the hippie/peace youth, movement, people were sick and tired of the Vietnam war and so on.

Edit: So, I want to say "yes" that I'll be playing an Apex at some point, but no, it won't be because of a monkey beard.

People just don't like Apex, it's okay though. I'm sure I will have fun eating my chicken salad with some porkchops, might have some fried fish on this nice steel stove I've found.

I'm naming my Apex character either Red Peter, Winston Smith, or Wukong. I'm undecided. But I want all of my character's names to be a reference to something.
