Anything new on the Hylotl race?

I don't know anything but the fact that they're fish people with Japanese style that may breathe indefinitely underwater. Anyone knows anything else? I'm in love with that race and would appreciate to find out more.

 

I don't think they can breath underwater. I do think they will have racial mods to their armor making travel underwater easier or something.

I doubt water breathing is a hylotl racial mod exclusive, as scuba gear is pretty important.

 

Hasn't it already been told that the Hylotl can breathe underwater with specific equiqment?

 

still a mystery my friend! they might have a heavy role in the lore though...who knows really, any lore is subject to change anyways.

 

You misread what I said. I was responding that it wouldn't be a racial ability, but an equipment modification that is likely racial neutral if anything.

At the moment we don't no much about them, all we know is they look cool, if they have a full set of armor they can breath in water and move faster in water.
Unless I have missed something that's it.

 

We also know that Tiy has lore planned out for them, but not fine tuned and released yet.

 

Ah, I see now. Thank you everyone! I didn't know they need armour to breathe underwater. That's neat! I wish it'd be a racial ability but hey atleast its something!

 

If I remember correctly other races can get other races armour sets too finding prints/crafting them in game. Unless they are planning some kind of race restriction. So most likely if you choose human you can still get hylotl katanas, kimonos and underwater sets etc. That way I understood it.

 

Until Chucklefish gives us official info, I'm assuming that they are something in-between fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Since they are clearly Asian-inspired and aquatic-themed, I consider them to be the DRAGON race. In ancient Asian mythology, dragons were actually water spirits and did not have wings at all, unlike the European version of the dragon myth. Chucklefish might just have an unusual take on the concept, just like how every other race deviates from the expected norms (the robot race is medieval, the ape race is high tech, the bird race can't fly, the plant race isn't peaceful, etc...).

In fact, Garchomp is secretly a Hylotl who has become an expert at spelunking.

Anyways, I find it funny that Hylotls are so Japanese looking when their name is so completely not Japanese.
