Anyone know the Pixel Dimentions of Starbound characters?

Hey helpful Starbounders - I've recently gotten into the wonderful world of Pixel Art (as you can see from my profile pic, which is also the first ever pixel art piece I've attempted.) I love the art style of Terraria/Starbound and i was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions of SB characters?

Can I just open up a screenshot in photoshop and count myself? Or is there some scaling I need to watch out for? I really have no clue what I'm doing, so I will sit here and pray to the internet gods (you) for your guidance.

BONUS: Can anyone name the object I'm holding in my profile pic?

I'd name your character "Josh, the Undertaker" Why? Because that was the first thing that came to my mind.
But question has been answered, I wanted to send you the character creator but the topic is 10 times better for you.
