Anyone else worried?

Yeah, but they always make it sounds SOOOO good.

Like take McDonalds. When you see the commerical, it looks healthy and super tasty and awesome. But then you go to the store and they give you a flavoured mush of oily plastic.

I don't care what the McNuggets looked like before they get to me, I'll eat them!

 

McDonalds is gross. Someone once ate a mcdonalds cheeseburger with 1 patty and fries for lunch and dinner each day for 5 months, and had SEVERELY high sicknesses, and obesity by then.

 

But he got better.

 

Actually, it's been 1 year and a few months and he still suffers.

 

Thanks for this post. It seems like it should be common sense, but that difference hadn't really occurred to me. It must make the first chunk of development pretty "dry" for you guys. Must be nice for you to start seeing all your work come together now.

That movie came out in 2004, 8 years ago.
Also, he got better, if he didn't he probably wouldn't have made a whole documentary show about other life styles.

I will do what I always do and just patiently wait. One thing I have learned over the many years or playing games is that patience and an open mind is key. I will keep my expectations low and my mind open for when the game truly comes out.

 

Tiy's already covered the essentials, but for what it's worth:

I know Omni and Kyren IRL, and they are both really really awesome programmers. They're both AMAZING at what they do and and the way they think up of solutions to problems always astonishes me. Look at Kyren's lighting system, for example -- it's impeccable. I can't see their work disappointing fans. I've also seen first-hand how dedicated they both are to this, and believe me, they are going to see Starbound through.

 

It's not like they're trying to do the impossible.

The things they have planned could definitely be done, and this isn't a console game or whatever so it can be updated any time they want to to fix/add whatever they need to on the chance they can't get everything on release.

 

Am I worried? Not really. Will the game be quite as awesome as I imagine it? Probably not. Will it be good? Well if Tiy's resume is anything to go by, it will certainly be "good." Is it vaporware? Don't think so. This isn't Interplay which teased us with random, easily thrown together snippets of Fallout Online (aptly abbreviated FOOL) while trying to squeeze one more payday out of Bethesda. Nor is it Capcom which seems to have adopted a bizarre market strategy that revolves around tourmenting fans of the Megaman franchise. This is just a bunch of guys/nerds/whathaveyou coding in one guy's basement (or the electronic equivilent) and rocking out a necessary entry for the sandbox genre. God knows it's been long enough since Minecraft that someone's tried to take a sci-fi stab at this.

 

I won't be, but it'll be really funny to watch all the people rage about X feature not being there at release or Y not being what they thought it would be.

 

If you drink arbonated drinks like cola twice a day it'll make you sick. If you eat millions of apple seeds you will get poisoned. Some things you dont eat every day.

 

If I take the very first video into consideration I'm not worried. Looks and sounds fantastic.

Sugar is good for your brain, and cola is tasty.

Cola only has a few bad effects, so as long as you BRUSH YOUR TEETH and DRINK LESS THAN 2 LITRES you should be fine.
One of the side effects is that it has caffiene which makes you stay up late if you drink Cola too late, but that's not much of a problem.

 

Well, I'm not really worried. Even though I have witnessed that there was a lot of hype for a game, and then it disappointed, but I don't think this will apply for starbound! From what we've seen already, this game is unlikely to "fail"

Also, meanwhile in Germany: MCdonalds fails!
