Anyone else just not playing, waiting for the patch that'll wipe your characters?

Like, I'm down with what a beta is and all that goes with it. Crashes and bugs, no problem. But I don't want to spend time building up now what's going to be deleted tomorrow. If this is going to be a regular thing, I imagine longplay interest will be squashed. So is there an ETA on the patch? I wanna play. >:/

I'm actually going through cities and shops killing every merchant and NPC I find.

 

I see virtual machines. Is this compatibility testing, meaning it's coming soon? Just started watching

 

I mean if this were a shooter or some other no-progress/20-minute-match style of game, no problem at all. I'm in and finished inside of an hour. But Starbound's a long-term, build a giant fortress style game. Deleting games is a huge chunk of work lost.

So I'm sittin here waitin...

Not meaning to be snarky, But shouldn't you have waited for stage 2 to start playing if you didn't want your char wiped?

I'm still looking around, myself. Taking notes to see what parts of worlds change before and after.

 

I'm still playing, but I've got most of the content and tiers, so I've been just running around collecting codex entries. Well, whenever I wasn't playing Broken Sword 5... The patch will add more content to try out, so I'll be back for that.

 

Yeah I haven't played for a couple days because of the incoming wipe.

Just wait. With my luck they'll delay it for a week.

Yeah, held off playing tonight due to the incoming wipe, but was playing earlier today. If the wipe doesn't occur tomorrow, I'll start poking around again til it does though.

 

I'm waiting to move on and testing the next system, cause right now, I'm at a point where the glass wall of scaling is currently inhibiting my ability to enjoy the game, so, I'm waiting for this patch to let me progress in content at a fun rate.

 

I just found the biggest planet I could and started digging it up. No reason why, just soemthing to do.

Ended up with 5 stacks of iron, 7 stacks of copper 2 stacks of silver and about half a stack of gold. Kind of funny that I also found a rather large underground base thing which was pretty cool. Contained nothing of interest but was pretty nice and surprising to find.

Also I was testing out some new start up strats to speed along to my current progress (still doing Tier 1 stuff). I scrapped the bow for a hunting knife as it results in faster food/leather gathering at a level 1 world.

Sort of. I've stopped doing anything that might smack of character progression and just started experimenting with stuff to see what it does. Learned how to do wiring today, so I'm pretty stoked about that, and learned the limitations of the 3D printer by experimenting with my ludicrous horde of crap stored shipboard.

 

I paused when the wipe was announced, but this is by no means upsetting me or causing me to lose interest. I just figured there was no point in further investing myself into that current character when he was going to be wiped soon anyway. Although, in hindsight, I would have played if I knew the patch was going to take this long to come out. On the plus side, I've had more free time to hang out on the forums and get to know the community.

Nuke time actually. Blowing the entire base of operations up with friends, along with airships, and each other. Going to places we're outleveled on, and now making traps in each others ships... Oh tesla spike.
