Anyone else hope the Co-op is really good for a two-person team?

Played Terraria with my close other and had a wonderful time, but the gear system made it competitive and hostile sometimes, and the combat was just plain boring.
Starbound just looks fantastic for it every way.

Pick two different races and go for two different "equipment sets" (classes, of a sort) and you shouldn't have a problem with competitive equipping. Tiy said that certain equipment sets will change the way you play the game, and some sets are geared towards certain "playstyles" than others. I'm assuming that means that you'll need different equipment as well, so you won't be fighting for a certain "set". (ie: Knight wears heavy armour, Archer wears light.)

At least, that's what I'm guessing from it.

I figure I'll go Melee and shield or something with a gun for kicks,
And she'll probably go support/ranged. We TRIED to do it in Terraria but it didn't really work out.

If Starbound has any features like this coop will be a great deal better than it was in Terraria.

  6. Psh, I'm hoping it's good for at least 10 people. I don't want my interfriends to miss out :0

While that's pretty awesome, I just mean its a genuinely good engine to explore together, and not much else to it.

I'm assume-hoping infinite planets = infinite treasure, though it's pretty much a sure bet at this point, with the loot system as they've described it. 21000 variants of rocket launchers.. I doubt you'd get to endgame only having seen two of them.

S'far as the co-op goes, though, I'm more concerned about how the story will function in multiplayer. Terraria didn't have a story, so there's no comparison to be made.. Will Starbound follow the host's progress? Will all 4 players be working individually, and if so, if they're each on the same quest and one turns it in, will the other's have a chance to make it count for finishing their own quest, as well, like GW2 does?
I hope that's how it works. I'll be playing with three friends, and a 'collect 40 of X' quest with 4 people needing to turn it in individually becomes something of a chore.

Well I'll just hop the co-op is better for more than just 2 people because I have like 4 other friends I want to invite.
So if I was a mage character in terraria, I'll be an energy weapons expert in Starbound, right?

I think the problem with Terraria's resource sharing was that you didn't have much of a choice in weapons, but hopefully Star Bound will allow lasers and supportive and utility items early on.

Genuinely more ways to play, yeah.

  12. I pray it will be able to support Roleplay better then Terraria... with local chat and global chat,as for the co-op. yeah I hope so

Ah nothing quite like a good role play in an immersive game.

  14. Yeah, im trying to get together the things needed to make the Corperations Sub-forum a server... hopefully it works. however...I cant run it ...my computer doesn't have the power to do it.. so I need help from other people

Can't help you there I'm afraid, if I ever RP it's only with two or three close friends, not so much online.
But there's plenty of RPers hanging around these forums it seems.

  16. Yeah I know, but I dont know how to get support and stuff v,v meaning probably it will only be people from the Corps sub-forum

Well if you want to be somewat simple about it, simply get hamachi, and host the server on your computer. If the computer can run Starbound itself, hosting a LAN server will be not much extra strain. Give people the hamachi details and they can connect that way.

  18. I have tried this before...I cant host it myself...thats why I need help. 2 people on 1 server puts so much stress on my computer..
and there is more then 5-6 people in the corps...there are mabye 11-12 I know of so far.

Personally I just hope the game doesn't restrict you for not playing online since most of my friends are ignorant and hated terraria without even playing it so can't see myself online much.

In my opinion, I like competitiveness, and alot of good games use it, it's just that terraria didn't do it efficiently.
