Have you ever read or tried to follow the Agaran Menace thread? Maybe there was only one Codex entry which explicitly dealt with Agarans. (Even so, there was definitely several Codex entries which were either arguably related or strongly hinted at an Agaran plot.) However, there was other in-game evidence besides the Codex. Not to mention McVicar's reports. Chucklefish even released a short comic about that! (I loved the art and story in that comic, btw.) You'd have to read that thread to appreciate how much evidence there was.

    Wait. Was there a comic?
As for the other evidence, I never saw the other structures apart from their villages, so I didn't know about them. Well, that means there's TWO races that were portrayed too darkly (Admittedly, most of the Agaran ones were, apart from the Codex Entry, implications, but that desn't help much).

    Fully agreed & seconded. :(

Also, I get REAL sick & tired of Monsters, Weather, or even sometimes the TOWN GUARDS attacking the Monsters & such causing destruction in a Town & ME, the Player getting blamed for it all because the game thinks it's impossible for anyone but me to be at fault! I found a Glitch Village on a Volcanic World & shortly after I arrived a Cinder Shower rained down & burned the damn Town to the ground & the entire Town attacked ME for something I had nothing to do with & managed to kill me while I was trying to be nice to them anyway & cause I was trying to Scan stuff in the Town before the Cinder Shower destroyed it. That did it, I was pissed then... I brought my Floran & Penguin Security officers with me & destroyed every last one of those Glitch bastards for doing that to me... (Well, actually I might have spared a couple Merchants that were far away from the Incident at the time & thus 'plausibly' might have been innocent of wrongdoing towards me... They treated me right anyway...) & ya know what happened for THAT? I got...

an Achievement for it calling ME the Villain for THAT!!! Not only is it impossible to Complete the Achievements by being only 'good', but I was called a Villain for only being a Victim of Bullshit Bad AI!!! Devs, What the Hell Heroes!!?:fireball:

What the hell happened to all the goodness this game was supposed to have in Story, AI Potential, & such!!? :wtf:

PEOPLE!!! NEVER RUSH THE DEVS!!! YA FORCED THEM TO PULL OUT A CAKE THAT WAS NOT DONE & STILL DOUGHY IN THE MIDDLE!!! HOW DO YA LIVE WITH YOURSELVES!!? :urgh: My Arceus... ya even forced them to take off GOOD parts of the Cake...

& yes i'm plenty salty. I needed to get that off my chest for my Mental Health.

That bird part was put there just for consistancy (i.e having one per race) but on the subject I thought that the avian backstory was the best and their sacrificial rituals made sense, comparing it to the Mesoamerican rituals, and their reasoning. But it also makes sense for extreme cultures like that to eventually sprout individuals who question, why these rituals are neccesary, especially once they have seen what the other completely different species can do, like atheists in our time.

My memory is a bit hazy, but didn't Kluex rob the Avian from their ability to fly because they wanted to fly above the skies to space with metal wings? If that's true then definitely seeing others do it would raise some red flags....Unless the retconned in the new story, which would be a real shame because that backstory was awesome!

I'd like to see, like many other people, a hybrid of some sorts, where the devs use lore from the new and the old backstories. With the Avians it would be as simple as adding that the avians don't fear the sacrifice, but some don't want to do it, instead leaving the planet to inhabit new worlds.

The game maybe out, but mind you it is not finished. Many things will be changed during this games lifespan. Hopefully now that the game is out they can smooth the edges for example the A.I.

As for the story, it's hard to change it and not upset people who like it, but rest assured that the answer to this problem, like any other problem is.....

ahh... It's a good day to be a pc-gamer. But I still hope that they bring back at least some aspects of the old stories.

Oh! I totally agree about how stupid the weather system is in terms of it needlessly getting the player into trouble! Don't get me wrong: I actually like the weather itself. However, I am absolutely convinced that the devs should have added block protection to all towns, making it impossible to "steal" anything or to be blamed for the weather destroying their town. But, myself, my biggest peev about weather is how sandstorms and ash-storms will slowly bury a town.

I try to clear a town of the piles of silt or ash blocking the doors and then, quite by accident, I break the door. Then I'm blamed for that and called a thief! Worse, when I try to do quests for them, which require baking a food, smelting ore, or spinning cloth, I put my crafting station down to do this. Then, when I pick my crafting station back up, I get blamed for stealing it!

    Devs? Are you listening?

Making eveything protected would be kinda dumb, both stylistical (Glitch village protected by a shield generator? Uh-huh) and gameplay-wise (there is stuff that ain't printable such as paintings or some statues, you need to steal that if want it). Far more elegant solution would be disabling "thief alarm" from triggering during disaster-class conditions (meteors and fire rains), tracking which items were set by player (why can't we just add a flag to furniture indicating were they set by player or not, Terraria kinda does that stuff with blocks) and making Shield Generators printable (for protecting something you don't want to be destroyed; actually, that would make surface buildings on planets with difficult conditions entirely doable, what with not getting bombed into oblivion every ten minutes)

They could have an actual shield generator object tucked away near the surface, underground, and toggle-able by the player on and off. That way, one could disable it to take stuff (or to destroy the town). As for a possible style clash, such as for the Glitch: One might assume that the shield generator was already there and the Glitch decided to build their village around it. Or, perhaps they purchased it from another race?

I do like your suggestions, esp. the flag on furniture to indicate it is player-owned. Though, I think I'd end up trying to place a Shield Generator on every village I come across on every planet with violent weather or even sandstorms or ash-storms. I hate how the latter dumps piles of silt or ash on villages. :(

    Knight9910 Existential Complex

The devs are human beings with free will. Even if you say they caved to pressure, it was still their choice to rush to full release before the game was ready.

But also, if we're being totally honest? Even the pressure being put on them was totally their fault.

Part of the problem is they announced the game WAY too early. They basically came out and told everyone that it was almost done as soon as they had graphics and a working game engine. They even put out a "development roadmap" claiming the game was already ~80% done overall even though it was more realistically ~30% done. People were demanding the game be released under the assumption that the game was already done and the devs were just dragging their feet. (Because, you know, that's what they TOLD us.)

So they gave in to pressure and released the game as early access, and that led to more pressure from fans demanding that they fix this, do that, incorporate this new system, check this thing out, so on and so forth ad nauseum. So they ended up skittering back and forth trying to pander to some fans' demands, totally ignoring others and losing time they could have spent on actual development.

And now they gave in to pressure one more time to just suck it up and release the damn thing already...

All I can say is, I hope Chucklefish learned from this and can avoid it with future games.

Oh my god, don't even get me started on the stupid townfolk AI...

Though I do want to add: why do I get called out for stealing if I break a pot or a door, but not if I loot stuff straight out of their dressers and chests?

Fallout 3?! You better go back a bit further, the Enclave first showed up in Fallout 2. Don't you go mentioning Bethesda's lore-butchering game as a source of inspiration for the MiniKnog and Apex/

What if I said the Enclave is just a twist on a Nazi stereotype? Supremacist agenda (duh), not really savory expirements (whole modified FEV buisness in BOTH second and third parts, not even talking about Horrigan), totalitarism/military junta vibe, even eugenics (don't remember specificaly, but was implied by some dialogue on oil rig) and concentration camps (what do you think compartments with your tribe and Vault 13 dwellers were, daycare?).

And considering Apex, they're every dystopian refrence that authors coud think of rolled in one. Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury, Paranoia (ESPECIALLY Paranoia, given overall tone and that Big Ape really likes to appear on electronic devices), et cetera.

Yes and no.. I dislike a lot of the change but Florans are just amazing the way they are. I used to be a human player only up until I started playing Florans. Their dialogue and thoughts about items they scan is genuinely funny and cute. I love The florans tremendously and I have noticed a very cult following around them in the art circles. They're just great. AS for a lot of other changes, I don't like a lot of them. the game has really simplified its self.

we need some lore for the humans and novakid, i mean atlest the humans have a bit of a backsotry, a part in the main questline, and a few objects and a factoin based off them (uscm) but the poor novakid dont have jack shit

Personally, i think that the destruction of the earth should have had a bigger impact on the 7 races, and by that i mean that everyone SHOULD HAVE WENT BAT**** INSANE!
I mean, the Protectorate is basically the glue that binds these races togheter!
