Just curious to know who all here is submitting something for the book contest. Man, I never realized how hard it is telling a story in just 500 words!? That's like 1/18th of my chapters lol. Anywho, we should see if we can share a bit of our stories here once they decide a winner. Not sure if they'll want us sharing them publicly now, but maybe we can at least share what topic we wrote on or a little synopsis.

That's okay. Just say you're doing it on purpose as your version of Vogon Poetry.

    I don't know what a Vogon is.

NOOO! I don't want to be screaming my head off when I read (or hear) it.

I submitted! It was difficult for me to decide which of the short stories knocking around in my head would be best to submit, but I finally went with one written from the perspective of my main Starbound character (boring, I know). It's just so hard to resist the desire to make your author-surrogate-character (semi) canon.

I submitted two: a pirate story and a short poem. I personally love the word limit! It's a fun challenge to create a story that can be told in 500 words or less :)

I didn't even know about this.

I just whipped one up in the last 45 minutes and submitted.

I entered one. I don't think it'll win though. It's not my best work.

Yeah, me either, but I kept thinking about it like an in-game Codex.
I tried to keep it in the same typical vein.

To be quite honest my original story was exactly 500 words, but then I went through and revised it and it popped up to about 700. This micro story was actually quite good. Just enough space to get in all pertinent information and add a bit of narrative flair to fill it with personality and racial nuances. Then I had to edit it back down to 500 and I was kind of disappointed with the final result.

Curious how many submissions there actually were. We could simply win by default! That's what I'm banking on. :)

Would be cool if they (or we) post them after they choose a winner.

Yeah, mine was exactly 500 at first too. Then it became around 650. I had to edit/take out so much stuff...
As for how many submissions there were, Mollygos said it was over 200.

I might post mine once the contest is over. I hope other people post theirs. I want to see what everybody entered! Ok, maybe not all 200, but some of them.

Yeah, if I don't win, I'll post it in the fan section and link it in this thread.
