When you placed blocks in the water, you destroyed the water sources that occupied those blocks. As a result, any water put into that space now behaves like normal water - and since there's no background blocks behind them, that water drains out through the background.

I don't think this can be fixed, really - aside from maybe filling that space with an artificial island or something to hide the hole. Once destroyed, water sources can't be replaced.

well, no luck for you, nothing to do, actually the infinite ocean water is the same as normal one, its juste acting like that because of the generation, so once you replaced it, you cant do anything to put it back
they should add something like in minecraft, like when 2 infinite water blocks are in diagonal they create another infinite water block ( so it would correct this kind of situations, or when you build and destroy underwater, to regenerate infinite water

Well you could always give that spot a background. Glass would be the most subtle, easy to miss

PS: it's not a bug. It works exactly as designed. It's just a missing feature (the ability to restore those spots should probably be in the game)

That's odd, it should not drain at all with a background in place

maybe manually put some water in it to fill the hole

Yeah have the same problem on my ocean planet, and you are right it seems very buggy.

Try to build the background even bigger, there is 1 or 2 or maybe more holes somewhere, maybe a bit lower, but still over earth. After finding that and filling it the drop stops completely.
After you find the spots start carefully deleting the background again. Mostly there was only 1 or 2 spots left in my situation :)

    Good luck
Edit: Why isn't it possible to make water place able as a backgroundtile to fix oceans...?
