Any tips for finishing the 2 Bottleneck Quests?

Surely, I'm hardly the only person to ram into this stupid bottleneck trying to get the Class 3 ship upgrade.

    Yes, THOSE two quests.

Second playthrough now (the last I did months ago), same two quests: The one that wants the Avian Moon Emblem and the other one that wants some kind of Glitch book (it'd be nice if the quest told you exactly what item the stupid guy even wants instead of just showing you a picture of it).

I've been on, what, a dozen planets now, and I've yet to see a single Avian Tomb or Glitch Town. I've seen two Avian TEMPLES but apparently those aren't good enough because those didn't have any Moon Emblems. I hope Tombs aren't restricted to being underground-only, as that'd make it even worse to actually find one.

I can't say that the idea of flying around the galaxy aimlessly just hoping and praying that I run into one of these two things sounds like fun, so... well, the last time I played was a few days ago (Forums have been down and all).

I have nothing to do -- I am wearing Impervium Armor with an Impervium Weapon. I have all other quests at the Outpost done except for one guy who wants some string or something.

And naturally, the stupid pirate doesn't look like he's gonna give me the ship upgrade until I find these two stupid items that the two NPCs want.

So how exactly ARE we supposed to get past these two quests, without spending hours and hours and hours half asleep walking through planets that have nothing we need, again?

    Hit 'Enter" while in game
    Type '/admin' then hit 'Enter'
    Hit 'c'
Scroll down until you find the two items.

That's a rather cheesy way to do it, don't you think?

Is that what most other players do?

I can't help but to think of how badly designed these quests are if the first reply to my question about them, is to cheat, lol.

Its not a cheat when the quests are a simple placeholder. It's also beta. Life is short, don't waste your time....

Interesting way to this quests is joining to some populated server and trading something for moon emblem and a book. I wouldn't consider it as a cheat even if original owner got it in admin mode.

I do agree with you that the quest is a bit tough. But "Story" is the next big update, so chances are it's 100% placeholder and won't be the same after the update. Normally I'd never use /admin to spawn anything in, but in these sense, we are beta testing a game and dealing with a quest that won't be in the finished product. Just skip it. It's only lame if we have to spawn items in for the retail finished release.

At this point, having been through the quests 100 times, I just sit there and spawn in everything while taking not on the changes. They did get rid of the annoying spoon quest! Anywho, I'd just wait for the real quests/story update before worrying about doing things legit in regards to the Outpost quests.

Funny... I don't usually have a problem with it. Can't say that I have found both at the same time; as it is one or the other. I just go to the lower tier planets for an easier run around. I just keep searching. I don't like using the admin commands for something like that. I just know I will eventually find them. Plus gives me a chance to find other things as well, but I guess that is myself in my need to collect the vanities, and now the secondary attack types; plus all the other furniture.

I think it was on the first 2 updates for giraffe that I actually found both. This was on the unstable build, and since then I have transferred those worlds to my stable directory. The database won't help me find any of those items. After all it is a unstable universe and most those coordinates are for stable. By now even if they had coordinates for the unstable, it is likely different from the original unstable build, or for the nightly.

So I just keep searching. My determination will hold up, as I like seeing the different variations of the worlds; gives me inspiration in what I would eventually do in the game anyhow. Which is conquer and build an empire or build a universe speckled with my characters structures. :nuruhappy:
