    1. Because I don't live on the internet and finally had to chance to comment. I figured maybe the developers would respond here, but I guess not.
    2. Your comment was useless and has nothing to do with the question (Macs are horrible, get another computer) Yeah, whatever

Why did you even bother to post? Seeking validation for something?

There are still a tremendous number of users on Windows XP. But that's not why it is supported. It is supported because Windows XP is not that different feature-wise from Vista, 7, or 8.x. Microsoft tries to be backwards compatible as much as possible. The only major feature Windows XP lacks is support for DirectX higher than 9.

Apple though, at least from my experience, tends to put less effort into backwards compatibility as shown by how things tend to break with every major OS X release. But then Apple, unlike Microsoft, is not a software company. They are a hardware company. OS X only exists because they wanted to provide a uniform experience between their hardware devices. Any backwards compatibility on their part is more incidental than on purpose.

Why did you bother to reply? Your the one who proves to be an idiot saying your a developer and macs are crap. What do you develop? Nothing that great I imagine...welcome to the internet idiot

Its a question of market share.
I know a lot of Mac users are miffed about dedicating time to to support Windows XP
    But statsa are stats.
Almost 20%of users are still using XP.
Entire mac atmosphere is about 7% - which isn't half of windows XP users.
and Mac 10.5 doesn't even make up 1%

So spending time to support a Mac version which doesn't even have 1% user base is like supporting ReactOS operating system.
In the end it makes much more sense to support XP more then Mac it self. But Mac at least the latest one will be supported.

Nice, but what I'm trying to get across here is why can't the windows users just leave the mac users and their topics alone? Why can't Mac users get their questions answered? Fair enough to say?

Im pretty sure most mac users know that windows will always be the first support thing but just leave the mac users alone and let the devs discuss it.

    That would be self destructive.
Because the topic is discussed its more likely to be seen. If Windows users weren't here, this topic would die off.
If it dies off - it will just go into the endless pages of the the forum.
If mac users keep bumping it will be locked. And again go into the void.
Hence being picked on is of benefit.

Just throwing it out there, but despite Ubuntu's claims of working amazing on almost any hardware, it actually doesn't work at all on some platforms. Strangely enough, I have two of them: An Acer laptop with UEFI, and a Macbook Pro (mid-2009). I've spent the better part of the past 4.5 years since I got my macbook, and in that time I've learned quite a few tricks and work arounds to dual booting especially stubborn machines... and neither of them played friendly with linux at all.

Likewise, sometimes it's not about the hardware in the mac or the PC at all. I personally greatly prefer the general way mac is organized, I find it's a lot more efficient to work on Mac OS X, and my computer actually runs a lot cooler. I've also found a number of tricks to keep it operating at a cooler temperature than on windows. That isn't to say windows 7 doesn't have it's benefits either...

Long story short: People have macs for a wide variety of reasons, some are legitimate, some are stupid. Not all computers play friendly with all operating systems, despite what they are advertised as. Similarly people acquire macs many different ways, and not all of them involve paying out the ass. (Hackintoshes~<3)

My point is, we don't need to have a topic where every windows fanboy sees it and goes: oh, mac users, let's call the hardware crappy, the system over priced, and generally be dicks about it.

Alright I'm just done responding to people that cannot see the other side of the argument.
If mac users need to keep bumping this topic to let it be seen, then let them, if the moderators find it so disrupting then they will lock it. For now just leave the mac users who want their questions answered alone. I understand where your coming from though but there is no reason for people who have nothing to do with Mac 10.7.5 to respond to this thread. Im not trying to argue or be mean to anyone, and i understand both sides of the argument. But now i also see no point in responding any further.

The funny thing is, I have a Mac Book that was back from 2007, and it can't have OSX Maverick on it due to it being 2 years to old of a laptop. That being said, Good thing I have a laptop with windows 8.

    At work i "refurbish" macs,

As people have said, its probably more to do with apples business model then anything else, when they release new products they literally act as if the previous models never even existed
Its hard enough for AAA developers to get games to work on mac operating systems, let alone small indie developers
If support happens for it then it happens, but for now its a beta, some leg work on behalf of mac users wouldnt go amiss

As has been said within this thread and can pretty much be applied to most things in life; the benefits are far outweighed by the opportunity cost of doing it. I.E. not worth it

And Shhmio, the reason Windows users are making posts within this thread is we don't want to see the devs waste their time. And again that can be applied to any thread on the forum whereby people believe the time could be better spent elsewhere and shouldn't be given an level of priority or preference what-so-ever.
