Antimatter is just like normal matter, except for the fact that it is EXTREMELY rare and it's protons and neutron are charged differently. You don't understand that? ME NEITHER! BUT!!!! If antimatter comes in contact with normal matter, it turns both of them into pure energy! This can be used for very different things, but first... HOW DO WE GET ANTIMATTER?! Well, now and then you'll get a notice: The star <INSERT STAR NAME> has erupted a solar flare If this has happened, you can go to the star in the solar system you're in and go collect some antimatter! (Solar flares produce around 1 pound of antimatter in real life, but in-game it should be 2-5 blocks) This will of course require very strong radioactive shielding and a magnet-miner 5000, the best antimatter miner in the multiverse!* Batteries not included* These events are very rare, require great technology and don't give you much antimatter. You can also use a Small Hadron Collider (SHC), which is a mid-game machine that can be placed on your ship. The SHC can turn normal matter into antimatter, but this requires enormous amounts of energy. One block of normal matter turns into one antimatter clump, and 10 antimatter clumps can be turned into 1 antimatter block. (some kinds of rare matter are turned into 2 or more antimatter clumps) And now... The uses for antimatter: 1. The Antimatter-Energy Converter (AEC) - This machine turns all radiation and heat that results from combining matter with antimatter into useable energy, it uses one antimatter block and one normal matter block. 2. The Antimatter Bomb - This bomb results in a HUGE explosion! 'Nuff said. !!WARNING!! DO NOT PLACE AN ANTIMATTER BLOCK!! WITHOUT PROPER CONTAINMENT ( LIKE THE ANTIMATTER BOMB ), IT WILL MOST CERTAINLY KILL YOU!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Tell me what you think! I appreciate criticism, good or bad!
I'd be interested in the Energy Converter, it'd be pretty cool but I think it should have some kind of danger or be really hard to craft to balance out it's energy output.
The Antimatter bomb could have the option to be uncraftable/banned in servers, just like with TNT in Minecraft.
Sounds interesting for a quest type scenario to get it like having a scenario where a company had a ship out in the area around the time the solar flare happened and they lost contact so you go there to see if they are stil there and can collect some antimatter while you complete the quest of trying to rescue the ship (if they survived) or salvage the merchandise that remains (if they died) to bring back to the company or steal it or even have to help bring the ship and crew back to the company and you would get the antimatter while you are out there. I like this idea (but only if you do have the part about being uncraftable/banned)!
Using anti-matter as a fuel source might be really neat. A almost nuclear form of power utilization that is not only dangerous, but it can be useful.
Exactly. I'd love to have it. After all, where would Star Trek be without Antimatter? Nowhere. They would never have left Sol, let alone the rest of the galaxy.
I have no idea what you're suggesting, or if you're even suggesting anything. That wasn't even a complete sentence.
I like the idea of antimatter, but what type of effect would this have on the surrounding areas on the solar system, if any? For example, you found Solar System Altas-XXI. This solar system's light source is Centauri-XXI- a star. What happens to the solar system if this star errupts into solar flare and your base and NPC's are on the planet? What am I saying?! That's a pretty freakin sweet idea. Would give me a reason to move around and not invest in one area in particular.
Just some science here: When our sun erupts a solar flare, it makes around a pound of antimatter. This antimatter dissolves very quickly, this wouldn't be fun in SB of course so I think there should be some kind of minigame that let's you collect some antimatter. So when the event happens, you go to your ship, click the star and start collecting antimatter!
Could antimatter be treated as a liquid instead of a block? So you can spray it at other ships/planets(seriously, throwing around AM inside your own planet/ship is a bad idea for obvious reasons.
I say, this is awesome! Anyways, here's my list of potential appliances of anti-matter: -Single block immediatelly detoantes when places, and leaves as large cratter as strongest of explosives! The drawback? You're capable of putting blocks just right next to you, so this is bound to be suicidal! -Antimatter bombs! Hard to make because require some difficult to get components, explosions same as antimatter blocks but, well, more safe-ish. -A weapon type. Seriously, antimatter-powered weapons are rad. -Dev said they're considering the idea of a device capable of destroying planets. This would be a perfect ingridient for such a device!
Well, not destroying planets, but killing off the biosphere wouldn't be difficult. Just drop some antimatter into the atmosphere and let the resultant gamma ray burst do the job. Of course, that's not really passable as an accident. You'll be better off with AM-fueled relavistic KKVs, which at least look like a meteorite strike.
the only thing is that in real life it requires more power to create antimatter than it produces so it would be insufficient to produce it for energy usage but if you gather it that works this problem tho exists only if the antimatter is based on real life
