Mob Anti-Range Enemies

Do you always use ranged, or do you use melee to fight? What tactics do you use?

    (This is my first Thread in suggestions, so please be gentle with critiques and please, tell me if this is in the correct format!)

    I've noticed that, with games like this (Terraria is a good example), I feel that ranged weapons often are the main use to take down enemies. As such, most people forgo the traditional melee for extra range. Because of this, tactics often include running away, holding left click, and keeping your cursor over the boss/Mob. What I am suggesting, is something that does not follow this trend and will help add variety to mobs/bosses. (I fought all three so far, dragon, ufo, and Robot, and two seem to function identically, with the dragon being the least developed for obvious reasons. The robot was interesting, but again, just run away, shoot. Done.)

    Anti-ranged Mechanical/Cyborg

    Drops/Loot:
    Iron bar / Ore
    Wiring / Wires
    Hardened plating (Animal plating can be a viable option, if the mob is a cyborg!)

    Environment/Habitat:
    Any and all Labs (I've only seen APEX labs so far, so maybe they could fly around those?)
    Level 36(+) planets

    Strength not determined by "Time".

    Spawn Rate/Spawning Conditions:
    Spawns inside buildings, Tundra and Arid Biomes, The Mob is resistant to Projectiles (Bullets/arrows/etc.)


    Movement: Flies for X amount of time, and lands to allow attacks. After A amount of time, it'll fly again.


    Attacks/Damage:
    Anti-Air cannons : Cannons that precisely shoot down anything that flies (Gravity bubble included in this!)
    Damage: I don't have a good sense of how damage scales, but from the DMG I got with imp.Armor I'd say 72-ish. Or more.

    Weak against : Melee
