Who likes the launch screen for starbound?

I goto launch the game via Steam andf I get stuck at the launcher without a play button... super annoying. Why do I need a launcher to load a game? I hate having to make a shortcut to the .exe because somebody decided to complicate the loading of the game.

Which game are you talking about? Because you're posting in the Social subforum, which isn't used for either Starbound or Stardew Valley. Let me know which it is, and I'll move your thread to a more appropriate subforum.

Who uses the launcher??? I launch direct from the exe.

I like the launcher. Gives me the news and it's pretty much equal to Steam asking you which version you want, but it doesn't look so horrible. But yeah, you can do like SivCorp - launch from the exe.

Same. I kind of like the news updates :>
I haven't had a time where the launcher didn't show the play buttons though.... Pretty strange!

it's done this way so you can choose which version you launch. (directx 32 bit, opengl 32 bit, directx 64 bit, opengl 64 bit, and server). adding all the different versions individually to the steam client would clutter the place up. as it is, there are already two entries for me...stable and unstable...and i suspect there could also be a nightly if i wanted there to be. Now, assuming that all 5 launch options are available for all 3 code versions of the game, there'd be 15 lines of starbound on your library list. I'll keep the launcher. Also, the news is nice. it's a quick way to see what's going on with the game :3

edit: you not getting the play buttons tells me that there is probably some issue with your game install. maybe try reinstalling?

You could allways create a direct shortcut (in steam) to the exe (for the version you want) instead of the launcher.
