What exactly are you talking about when you say "justifying mental illness"? Chuunibyo isn't an illness. No- If I'm to continue, I'll have to spoil the story. None of the characters in the story actually believe they are what they say they are. Not Dekomori, not Rikka, and not "old pink-haired love interest girl" (her name escapes me). At a few story points they all admit this. It's almost outright stated that the only reason Rikka still acts the way she does is because that's the only way she knows how to cope with her father's death (and her mother's abadonment). Hence "invisible boundary lines". That's not an illness. That's an intentional delusion. Also, I don't believe Toka ever actually abused Rikka. It was tough love. I don't agree with Toka's methods, but it was very clear she was only doing it to (try to) help Rikka. Oh, and I think you may be taking "ignoring consequences for behaviour" a bit too seriously. Most of the stuff the main cast did was really only for the viewer's yucks. It's a rom-com. That's why they do those things.
I gotta finish watching Denki-gai. And Heroman. Basically everything on my Crunchyroll queue. I can rate nothing on that list except OPM. And since I don't like giving ratings out of 10 (it almost always results in 8s everywhere), I'll just say it was awesome. Also, I finished the TWGOK manga. It was pretty great, although some of the arcs drag on in some places. Still sad about no S4, though it would've been hard as hell to fit that last arc in 12 episodes.
You should. Denki-Gai gets better every episode. Also, I just looked up Heroman and it looks very ridiculous. ...I'm in. I'll give it a watch after I'm done with what I'm watching now.
chuunibyo isn't the mental illness to which i was referring, but mc clearly had ptsd and chuun was her coping strategy and like fine i get that they're all dumbass teenagers but 1. leaving it is not fine?? and 2. demanding that she grow up is also not fine??? and 3. assuming it will just go away is not fine??? seriously show get your shit together. and i meant her grandparents' abuse as well. sister is kind of whatever for me, leaving mc to her own devices until she had a breakdown is understandable, but her grandparents were savage pos like fuck that don't just shrug it off as though that shit is ok and just casually running away is also ok fuck it felt just basically like "kids vs adults" except where the kids thought they were being adulty and i just blah i'm just like it took itself a bit too seriously so i am salty to match
"but mc clearly had ptsd" I really don't think Yuta had PTSD. I'm fairly sure he was just embarrassed about who he used to be. Unless you're talking about Rikka here, in which case ignore this. "seriously show get your shit together." I believe it did. Those were all different characters. And the few times Yuta flip-flopped was because he didn't yet understand his feelings about Chuuni and more importantly Rikka. I don't think the aesop (moral) of the story really had much at all to do with Chuuni. I think most of the moral was just about acceptance, grieving, and maturing. "and i meant her grandparents' abuse as well" I agree her grandfather was being really unkind/mean towards her. However, I don't see how Rikka running away (in that scene, specifically) was really that big of a deal. That's a normal thing that happens to young people all the time. They don't know how to react, or to handle the situation, and they just do it out of desperation. "...don't just shrug it off as though that shit is ok" What does that mean? You also said "and just casually running away is also ok" I'm not following. I don't think the show ever once implies that this is appropriate, nor condone the behavior. "it felt just basically like "kids vs adults" except where the kids thought they were being adulty and i just blah" Do you think the show/characters are being "fake adulty"? I don't see it. I just see normal-ish teenagers being awkward and trying to understand themselves better like we all do. Also, I don't remember any of the teen characters trying to act "adult". Only Nibutani and Yuta try to avoid their past Chuuni selves. I hope I'm not coming off as if I'm attacking you by picking your words apart. I'm honestly intrigued about your opinion.
-it was at this point that I became irredeemably lost in watching increasing numbers of shows- Also, D. Gray-Man had led me to the following Wild Mass Guess: If and only if D. Gray-Man and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann take place in the same universe, then the Core Drill is a piece of the Innocence. This is supported by the glow from Allen's arm resembling Spiral Energy, and due to how both Innocence users and Spiral warriors can generate mass and energy from seemingly nowhere. Because why the heck not?
Gintama is getting better and better! wait.. I think I said that before.. Oh well.. I really love the show!
So, I finally started working again on finishing the Jojo Part 3 anime before Part 4 happens. And damn, the second to last fight... that hurt a lot more animated than it did in the manga. On a lighter note, I finally stopped being a lazy butt and picked up Osomatsu-san! It's a pretty fun and silly show. Sadly, the first episode isn't on official streaming services probably for being a tornado of parodying popular stuff, but I'm up to episode 12 right now and it's just great. Its OP is great. Its ED is really great. Great. (it's just a shame it's not on youtube so i can't link it because it's pretty unique in its animation and i absolutely love it) also jojo part 4 hype and ace attorney anime hype, please don't mess up phoenix yuki kaji
Coincidentally, I started watching JoJo a few days ago now that most of the shows I'm watching from this season have/are ending. 5 episodes in, and I'm already hooked on the action. DAMN YOU DIO!
Heh, I ended up getting hooked after the first episode alone, even though I watched with joke subs. The subs may have been funny, but I did wanna see what happened in the resulting plot! now i gotta post some glorious 240p screenshots And thanks to my name, I can call myself Joey Jojo at times, it's rad.
I recently managed to get through One Punch Man and Shokugeki no soma. I must now take an indeterminate amount of time to recover.
I'm not the type to get physically excited, but watching that anime (OPM) with my best friend had me yelling and sitting on the floor. Dear god, that is the literal definition of hype. Can't wait for that second season (if it does happen). Also, I had thought that Shokugeki no Souma sounded familiar. Oh boy, Food Wars. Looks like my time has to come to sit through that one, wish me luck.
