Animal Domestication and Variation

    I would like to see more variation and uses for animals in this game.

    First I would like to see them be more varied, in size (only on the surface unless they were given the ability to break blocks underground), speed, intellect, abilities (two different creatures using the same ability could have different ranges, projectile velocity, or lead their target (linked to intelligence)), and constitution. Each level of planets could have different stat total for each creature, but there should always be a couple stats a creature excels in and a couple they are challenged in.

    Domestication would provide you with labor that would be able to use varying levels of technology (based on intelligence), source of fuel (put them on a hamster wheel), guards for npc towns, food and leather (if you're a jerk), and I'm sure the community could think of many more uses.

    How would domestication work? Gifts of food is the short answer. Differing levels of intellect would require different qualities of food. The lowest intellect you could feed raw alien meat to (you asshole) and at the highest levels, you would have to use racial foods that fit the creature (avian for birds, hyotl for fish (assuming fish are given a purpose) and are of high quality.

    How do I give food to enemies that aggro on me when I get close? This is a good question I do not have a good answer to... perhaps pheromones for that particular animal?

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Links to other threads that beat me to this idea? TT.TT

    Quick edit: to make this work we'd also need something like a starbound poke'dex to figure out what stats a creature has before attempting to domesticate it.
