maybe races mods got broken now?

 

To the OP: Thanks for posting this topic. I saw it while playing the game on my primary screen and browsing the forums on my secondary monitor. I was about to close up the game but realized just in time that I could save the stuff on my ship before it was too late thanks to you! In your face auto-update!

Note: I understand this is a beta, but if there's a chance to save the character data I'll take it.

It feels pretty right so far imo, it would be harder to control yourself in different gravity levels.

you guys are lucky, since you can actually play the game. when starbound updated for me, the farthest i got before it crashed was the menu screen. if i try to click anything, it just dies.

 

Still suffering from drastic FPS drops. This has been an issue for many since day 1 of the BETA and I haven't even really seen it commented on by the developers yet. Performance fixes should be at the top of the to-do list.

 

Sorry mate, but performance fixes are probably last on the list. Why? Because if they spend ages fixing performance problems now, then when they add new content later it'll just screw up the fine tuning again. Polish and optimizing goes on after you finish a product, not before.

Lots of peoples problems are caused by left over detritus from outdated mods and such. I wiped my files and re-downloaded and the game runs fine now.

 

It would be great if the next time there is going to be a character wipe, a ship wipe, or a planet wipe, WE WOULD BE NOTIFIED IN ADVANCE (say, 24 hours) before the patch goes out.

Starbound, do you think you could make it so?

"There will be a patch released in 24 hours which will wipe all [X]!" would be MORE than sufficient.

 

Dude, wipes are fine.

All I'm asking for is 24 hours notice before patches that should wipe data.

Gives us time to prepare.

 

I'm not sure quite what him joining a year after you has to do with anything, but...

Kyren said on the IRC that the ship wipe was unavoidable, as the change which made .world files incompatible with Angry Koala also effected .shipworld files.
"Anything which the player can move around at is incompatible with the change". Give or take a few words.

So yes, there really isn't anything they could have done to prevent the ship wipe.

 

i can just cheat it back in seeing how modding is easy as hell
was just bummed out about the ship upgrades, was realy looking forword to that
besides i knew about the world whips way before the patch launched, just didnt know it would kill ships also x-x
