I made this about a year ago. I don't really expect anyone to like it, seeing how basically every other race thread is down voted to oblivion, I just want some feed back on it. Link to the OP The Swarm: Name: The swarm. A race of shape shifting blobs. Why the swarm? they're composed of tiny organism, and nanites, but more on that later. History: The Apex in their never ending quest of scientific discovery found "The Swarm" on a bog planet. They were fairly small blobs, with almost no intelligence. This was a fairly common form of life in the universe, so the Apex paid them no heed. However after spending more time on the planet they found one thing that differentiated the Swarm from other slime life forms; they could create appendages of uses their gel to do complex tasks, one small "tribe" of the Swarm even used rudimentary tools. This was something the Apex had never seen before, a gelatinous race that could hold itself together without just surface tension. They quickly took The Swarm back to their labs to study them, on a earth like planet near the swarm's original planet, named Zez. Eventually the Apex made nanites for The Swarm that allowed them to make even more complex forms. They slowly began their evolution into sentience. Soon The Swarm overpowered the scientists who created them, The Apex empire tried attacking Zez, but failed in every attempt. They soon gave up and The Swarm declared independence. Technology: Most technology is based off Apex technology, but have many differences. Specifically in their weapons, The Swarm has almost no lethal weapons, and instead focuses on disabling the target. They have very futuristic technology, some would say ahead of the Apex. They communicate with other races using voice synthesizers, they use wifi to community with other Swarm. However there is no Swarm hive mind, and there is definitely not one being developed by rouge swarm scientists. Hostility: The Swarm is an almost completely pacifist species, never killing others unless absolutely necessary. However, when they do get into a war there is no stopping them. Historical moments: A good while ago the Swarm became allies with the Apex, even going as far as allowing complete emigration to each other's respective empire. The Swarm discovered how to effectively put any biological life into a coma/cryostasis and wake them at any time. Soon after they perfected this technology at long range. The Good: No enemy races. Very high level of technology, surpassing even the Apex. Surprisingly sociable, although it may have something to do with their Pheromone control technology. Might have Time machines, might. The Bad: Little to no lethal weapons until you discover one. Can’t go into blob form, due to the nanites holding them together. There are intergalactic laws that prohibit removing or modifying nanites from their bodies. You can remove nanites, but it will remove access to any gear, and will also get you in trouble with any governmental bodies. Morally ambiguous scientific experiments are said to be held on their home world, but no one really knows. The ugly (pictures by me): If someone wanted to make a better sprite that isn't a horrible color swap of humans, I would give you infinite internet cookies. The not ugly pictures: Made by DragonTech made by Majojo

I don't think you needed to bring this back like this, but there might not be many alternatives. I'll go with it. Anyway, the idea is OK. The whole thing about being pacifistic but still going to war seems a bit strange, so maybe reword it to sound less contradictory. And to be honest, the thing about them having no enemies and better-than-Apex technology sounds overpowered, while being denied access to weapons sounds underpowered.
It's not lime you can't use weapons, that would go against the dev's plan of basically equal races, you just don't have any deadly racial weapons It needs work I know, I just wanted some feedback to see if I want to refine it.
