An oceanic planet would be made of water(alot, of course) , wild marine creatures, flooded treasure chests, villages, underwater cities, etc. We could access those planets with either a submarine, the already-existing objects that creates an oxygen field around us, a special diving suit or a water (jetpack?) Those would be found on higher tier Planets The oceanic planet could be a very nice place to build original stuff, such as a sunken ships, underwater villages, and many other things. This planed wouldn't be a good place to mine, of course.
They (the devs) are still trying to figure out how to make ocean planets work properly without making a good amount of their playable space inaccessible to most people.
I had this same idea. Ocean biomes are what the Starbound universe lack. 90% water, 10% land. We could still mine, though, but we would have to go deep underwater to do so, Underwater gear to help with mobility is also needed. Let's face it, the chances of evasion are slim when we are fighting underwater therefore burning pixels fast.
I heartily agree with this, I'd like to see lakes/oceans and water planets. I'm not sure if I've missed it, but also more ability to use water for landscaping, being able to move/produce water.
That would be an awesome idea, also water shouldn't disappear when you mine the background. Also being able to move other liquids like acid, purple slimy water, and magma would be usefull

I completely agree, but not for the same reasons. I want an ocean biome to be able to make a base on. I LIVE for beutiful video game enviroments, live zoras domain in ocarina of time or the waterfall in the cylliage city gym in pokemon x and y. i just really want a calming enviroment to make a life on. make a few houses, spawn in a few NPC's. when i saw the ocean biome in the steam starbound trailer i was sold.
I just want to add something if there are going to be vehicles in the game why not make blueprints for ships that are costly, but it would payoff sailing the seas fighting pirates arrrr and hey invite your friends on your boat to go fishing, but wait one your friends caught something its a sea serpent.
