Right, Now I just blew my own mind, and I'm going to grant on to you the information that formulated in my head that then proceeded to blow it, Hold on to something okay? okay, Ya holding on good?

What if... Every craft-able piece of Armour, Weapon and Tool, required a material that's can only be found exclusively on a certain biome? Like my Jungle Sword requires something like Jungle stone or my Magma Blade Requires Magma Wood.

This brilliant idea just popped into my head.

I'm merely a vessel of this great idea... God I'm pretentious.

I want to see something along these lines by the final release. I want there to be more to non-cosmetic material gathering than "Metals that you will always be able to find if you are on the appropriate tier world."

What that would do is just encourage people to stick to basic weapons you can craft on each tier.

That's a choice for the player to decide, You can find weapons 10 times better then the ones you craft.

You know I kinda wanted the weapon system to work like Diablo or Torchlight, where some weapons come with slots, and you can put augments in them.

This is actually an intelligent idea that I've been thinking of as well.

Right now every possible ore is on any planet. So you just pump and dump one planet til you move to the next tier. I'd love there to be arctic or volcanic based armor and weapon sets you actually have to work for. Instead of just mining a tunnel straight down, grabbin dem goodies, and bailing to the next sector.

This isn't a bad idea. Many other games have done similar things and it usually worked. Jungle Armor from jungle stuff, for example.

However, I don't think this should become the sole method of operation (and I don't think you were proposing that), but more like an additional way to make stuff.

Granted that the comparisons aren't always valid, didn't Terraria have various armor sets that required materials from certain areas? This would be a similar system I think, just with the other areas being entirely other planets.

Yes, Terraria did something like it, and it wasn't the first. Except with Starbound it could be based on planetary exploration. So, it'd definitely be it's own thing in this game.

biomes should have unique ores, yes.

Even if the ore isnt entirely unique, Iron ore from one planet could give different properties than iron ore from another- Like +speed, +dmg, +bleeding, etc.. "Alpha X" planet has better iron than "Alpha Zz". It could be a rare quality, a planet with a rich version of a random resource.
