An Idea for weapon building

    I noticed almost all weapons in this game are the same. Sure, there are hammers and broadswords and shotguns and sniper rifles, but in the end every shotgun is like every other shotgun, only having a slight change in damage, speed and maybe having a DoT. Also crafted weapons are usually vastly superior to found ones, making them mostly obsolete.

    Now my idea is that instead of weapons, you can find weapon parts (like Borderlands), each weapon requiring 3 parts (number not set in stone) and being able to be further upgraded to have more abilities, a hammer for example would require a head, a grip, and a stick and is able to also have an enchantment and spikes. Of course, parts would also be different in terms of rarity and strengh and drop more often, but the most important thing is that they have various effects, some of which are stackable. With the right augmentations you can have a fast firing, homing shotgun. However, effects are limited to weapon parts, so you can't have homing on your grip, firing mechanic and barrel, but only on your barrel.

    Some ideas for effects:
    Melee:
    -bigger (more range)
    -more damage/speed
    -DoTs
    -knockback
    -projectiles (similar to the bone hammer)
    Ranged:
    -more damage/speed
    -DoTs
    -homing projectiles
    -explosive rounds for not-rocket/grenade launchers
    -more shots per firing
    -less energy use

    Yes, I realise this is mostly wishful thinking.
    No I have no real idea how a upgrade between tiers is done, maybe at each tier when you kill a monster with your weapon of the prev. tier you unlock a blueprint for the same weapon type. Also buyable from vendors. You can put lower tier parts in higher tier blueprints but not vice-versa.
    This was also kinda based on the monster system which will prob. be implemented. (Quote in spoiler)

    Yup. Sounds good to me. How hard it would be to implement I don't know. But it works on paper

    I say your idea would be great for the game. Though I'm wondering if some items for the weapons should be crafted, in case RNG decide to be evil to the character. Mostly though the ones a player can craft should be between common to uncommon and with out the extra effect like burning and stuff. This way a player has something to fall back onto if something were to happen.

    Yeah, maybe you can craft a "basic" item which can not be altered with augments. Could use a lot of the prev. tier ingots since you usually have a lot then.
    Also some parts will be craftable with the current-tier ingots, but findable ones can have multiple attributes, like [+15% damage] [homing projectiles].

    i want further wepon (and mech) customization the game feels to focused on random planet generation and makes the weapons feels extreamly narrow narow

    this is practically brilliant and i have a idea if my own maybe we can make weapons strange, legendary, maybe even titles like blood splattered or planet devastator like in TF2 with stranges and maybe even thing from tinkerer's construct with modifiers which can make things like DMG bonus or less energy use.

    I knew it was gonna be a good idea once I saw the words 'weapon' and 'building' in the title. Totally support this idea.
