well as far as the unstable progress goes..

few things i hope are... adjusted?

food buffs vs hunger... this is actualy the only game i really enjoyed the hunger system in some think it was needless but it worked out pretty well as giving a reason to hunt...
the buffs i know they will be worked on but they seen to me to be more pointless then the original hunger system ...

progression on a linear vs open world sandbox...

it feels like the sandbox has been limited i think it should be optional to do quest progression ( except boss dungeons i quite like the dungeons system)

the limitation on progression to ONLY quests opening new recipes kinda wrecked part of the charm that first made me fall in love with starbound...

dont get me wrong i will always love starbound its the game that got me started on this genre ... yes i got this first terraria i got because of this game...

it feels liek the new linear quest progression closes the endless universe in alot of ways ore should be more available then it feels the core fragment grind makes no sense really to be the first mission ...
i enjoyed the open progression before the unstable hit .. but its not COMPLETELY terrible as some think it is and all thigns are subject to change so i know you guys will work on that as time goes on...

dungeon missions/boss dungeons vs open boss summons items..

i really like the boss dungeons it feels alot more epic its alot more challange instead of box self in and kill any boss with a hunting bow...

the dungeon missions are also a really nice addition i really enjoy them reminds me of the old school platformers really well done ...

    nano suits...

one thing thats a little irritateing with nano suits is i feel you should take another page from metroids book and make the changes to your suit apply to all forms without having to go to the AI and change suits every time you go to a new planet...

it takes away from the emmersion almost as much as the linear progression dose...

combat i know will be worked on but the energy regen adds some challange however navo kids being pure energy should have greatly increased energy properties also being the primary gun users/makers they should
have the abbility to use energy alot more efficiently...

the science magic? jsut ... i dont care for that maybe go the rout of anarchy online with metaenergy that would be alot more sciencey alot less fantasy feeling in a scifi game...

i really really liek that you gave us a really really good reason to build on the first planet... the fact that we start every char on the same planet..

well done that was the perfect solution to the age old "theres no reason to build" ..

all in all i am mixed on the feelings of the new update its awesome to have progression on the project im impressed with some dissapointed with others but all in all im happy

i might be a critical fan on some things but that happens when testing :) im still a fan of the game...

thanks for the hard work guys and i look forward to seeing the changes and fixs in the stable update (oh fix frozen planets crashs each time i land on one)

    cheers

    love

I agree with many points said and for that reason I quit shortly after realising that the game will be VERY different to what it was when early release first came out, I signed up to this forum almost 3 years ago... wow time flies

It's a shame because I've been following starbound from the very day that Tiy announced it.. but I will wait as long as it takes for a more refined version, i'm sure it will be amazing in the end when it's perfected :)

Starbound is literally one of the most beautiful games I have ever played, the pixel art and music and colourful planets etc are awe inspiring

I used to be very active on this forum. I loved it. I was pretty late to the party, but It became a pretty big part of my life for a while..it's sad to see how many people are also inactive on here now..
I was very excited for starbound, so I bought the early access, since I knew I was eventually going to buy it anyways.
I was pretty disappointed, it just felt like Terraria in space but a bit worse. A lot of features weren't there yet or just poorly implemented (especially the combat). But it wasn't done yet so I didn't have much to complain about, so I just waited..and waited..and waited, but I kind of eventually lost interest and hope. Progress was just slow. I saw the winter trailer, and now the hope is coming back. it just took longer, but it seems like everything will be okay eventually.

No offense to the devs btw, I know how long game development takes, and from what I've seen you guys seem like pretty nice people. I'm just saying I was a bit disappointed with the early access. It did make me learn that Early Access is not for me.

Well, I guess you can add "Human Mech doing jack shit to enemies and not decreasing the damage done to you at all" to this list...

They got 4.162.000$ and the game is still in beta, all I have to say.
I speak as a programer, chucklefish is being so lazy, they are programming maximum one week per month, with more than 4 million dollars this game shoud be already released a long time ago.

Ignorant? What the fuck are you talking about? Starbound is not skyrim and the features they have to add are not hard to code, and with that much money they can take a lot of people to help them. You're such a starbound fanboy you can't see something obvious, I enjoy playing the game but let's not ignore the truth.
Do you realise what more than 4 million dollars is ?

You think money translates into speed. That's where your ignorance shows. I'm done replying to you as this is derailing and you clearly have no idea what you're even talking about.

Money translates into more people working and more people working translates into things done faster (that's why usually games with a big budget like skyrim or battlefield include more features and better everything).
If you don't believe chucklefish is being very lazy just look at a game like starmade, they don't even have half the money chucklefish got, the dev team is a lot smaller, the game is in 3D and still they make more and bigger (and usually even more interesting) updates than starbound. How do you explain that?
In someway I consider myself scammed by chucklefish

They would have to teach the new people the games code. Your ignorant if you think they can just hire new programmers and that those people would just be able to get started right away.

Not to mention that more people often result in more work outside of programming (coordinating the work effort, chucklefish is a small dev studio, it stands to reason that they dont have the framework to just trow new people in without issue).

And they dont do more updates, starbound has several updates a week in the nightly branch.

You know, being a programmer doesn't mean you know everything about software development in general. You DO know that any company that does any kind of software is composed of more than just code monkeys, right?
It's not just add one guy = +1 speed. You have to hire several more personnel to ensure those new assets will perform to the best of their abilities. I've had people join me in my projects only to see my performance take a substantial drop due to showing them the ropes, stopping every now and again to answer questions, and later on I had to kill a lot of bugs because they didn't do a very good job. It really would've gone faster if I were alone...

A game like battlefield 3 with the new frostbite engine took something like 40.000.000$ to produce (the more expensive was the marketing campaign), terraria and minecraft took almost nothing compared to starbound (both budget wise and people wise).. Now compare it with starbound they have more than 10% of battlefield 3 budget and the game is still in beta after more than a year.
Say what you want but if you're not stupid you'll eventually see the truth, I feel somewhat scammed about starbound, if devs told me they were going to be that lazy when I bought it, I simply wouldn't have.

    Ya done?

    Like, er, you done?

We actualy know whats going on, and we know of just about everything pal, we are sticking here cause we actualy want to, not cause we are forced or anything, this aint the Imperium pal, nobody here is forced to be here or called a Heretic and burned to ashes.

If you feel scammed about the game, its a fair enough opinion to have, however, like many before you, you act high and mighty, and generaly, like a douche.

I, and many others, respect if you feel unsatisfied.Yet being a dick, and saying you shalt enlighten us with "Da Truf" aint cool.

I don't disrespect anyone I'm just saying the truth, what piss me off is people blindly defending chucklefish when the fact they are beign lazy is obvious. There are a lot of indie games with a shitty budget which get more, bigger and more interesting updates than starbound, so stop defending chucklefish blindly when I am an actual programmer and I clearly see they are being lazy. Just look at the added content after a year..

*says hes not calling names on anyone*

*Claims im blindly defending, like a white knight*

    Ill repeat, ya done?

Edit:Look dude, I wasnt exactly a saint in my earlier days myself, aight?

Insulted the Devs (outright called Tiyuri a coward for not comunicating with the community when things were hard), called em Scammers, all sorts of sh*t, ya know?

But, I earned to realize, this isn't a quick cash grab, and that the game has indeed potential, but potential that takes time to unlock.

If you dont wish to wait for it, its completely understandable, yet insulting people just aint cool, alright?

You can perfectly say what ya need to without insults, so just do what ya do, just dont be a dick.

Why don't we cut straight to the chase. How about you post your portfolio and all the projects you've worked on so far. Then we'll know if you're more than just hot air.

It changed quite a bit after one year...

Also, sure, you are a programmer. A talented one, I'm sure. I just know you must've delivered government service orders on a country-wide system tested and bug-free within months, nay, weeks, if you are complaining about Chucklefish's pace.
I noticed how you used other games as comparison. Why tout your background as a programmer if you're not providing any examples from your own experience?

I'm in a security branch, I don't make games lol but anyway I'm not arguing with white knights anymore, I know the truth if you can't see it then you're stupid that's all.
Just saying: let's say you pay all of the devs 3000$ per month, there are 7 devs working on starbound, after a year you spent only 252.000$, deduce the rest by yourself, I'm done with you boot-lickers.
