I just find there is no reason for using short swords and spears outside of experimenting, and axes are pretty much just cooler looking hammers. Hammers and 2h-swords are obviously the way to go and I would rather go with those than any of the others, which have pretty much become obsolete. All I'm saying, just putting it out there, is that there should be an actual balance between weapons, for example hammers should be nerve rackingly slow and short swords having an actual swing arc. The same goes for the other weapons and their stats. I don't mean make short swords cheaper because that will do nothing but entice me to build them, simply for the sake of using up that last bit of copper I'm never going to use! I mean between damage, range, speed, knockback, and swing arc should all be nerfed so that they are roughly equal and the weapons actually have a use. Perhaps every weapon could have a damage type, and certain opponents would be weaker\more resistant to certain damage types (Slashing, Chopping, Crushing, and Piercing)

    1. 1H-Swords
One handed swords should have an actual swing arc, but only be able to stab when blocking with a shield. Damage should be humble but still impressive so people actually want to use them. The speed of a One Handed Sword would be the fastest of all weapons. Range would be short (short sword!), and knockback would be fair.

    2. Spears
Spears should have no arc, simply stabbing, but you should at least be allowed to aim them. They would have the longest range, though, and the second fastest speed, and a weak knockback. Their damage would be the weakest as well.

    3. Two Handed Swords
Two Handed Swords should have fairly long range, second to the spear, and the widest swing arc of all. With the weakest knockback and slow speed, they naturally do decent damage.

    4. Axes
Axes would have the highest knockback, second highest damage, and second slowest speed. They have decent range and an exceptional swing arc.

    5. Hammers
Finally, Hammers would be the very slowest, but would also have the highest damage. Swing arcs and range would be in the middle, and knockback would be second-rate.

1h swords do not stab. They slash, however it is implied by the animation that they slash sideways, at a shallow arc. And I use my 1h swords to completely destroy enemies. You know how? I know how to jump. I can defeat enemies with any weapon, but personally think dual wielding is the best. Also, you forgot daggers. Also, there are maces in the game.

The only reason I use a 2h sword or hammer over other weapons is the overhead attack makes it much easier to hit airborne enemies, though 2 1h swords can deliver quite a good hit.

Fairly sure a lot of what you mention is already in effect, hammers being the slowest and the 1h swords and daggers being the fastest for example. The biggest knockbacks are with the 2h weapons and the smallers ones with the 1h, though I think a dual weild hit gets a fair amount of knockback to it.

I got something you can at do spears aswell as other thin stabby stabby weapons. If you have ever played demon's souls or dark souls you may have noticed that you can stab while you block. I will leave it at that.
