So, a ton of people have probably suggested craftable ammo or something, but maybe they could add an ammunition bar. Ammunition would be different for each gun, and reloading times would also differ. I think that this would make certain guns less overpowered, because if you can sit in a corner and shoot at something for 5 minutes until your energy is gone, it kind of ruins the fun. After you run out of ammo, you will instantly start to reload. If you don't attack for 3 seconds while you still have ammo, you will start to reload. After every shot, 1 of the bullets or shells will go grey colored. Weapons would still use energy, but not as much as before. Here's a few examples of the ammunition bars. -Shotguns- -Pistols- -Flame Throwers-
I should make a mod to this effect, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Would certainly require Lua at least.
Would ruin the game. Amo is always a detriment to this kind of game, exesecive farming will just be like the curent stable, adding more resource types is bad. The problem is current ai not putting up a fight, it's the same with melee now.
How would this ruin the game? This would not even involve farming. The ammo bar would always be there, and no external item would have any effects on it.
You misunderstand. There is no physical ammunition - it's just a separate energy bar for weapons that is always expended 1 per shot. If this is implemented I'd like to see the R key become the reload key so I can do it manually.
That would be cool. I'd like to have a reload key, I'm so used to the controls for games like TF2 that I just press R sometimes randomly.
Oh right, well in that case, this makes blinking and using gravity bubble while firing easier, so still not a good idea
Who cares? Guns simply shouldn't be drawing directly off of your Energy, that doesn't even make any sense when they're not beam weapons.
Instant teleportation while firing would make you invincible, there is a reason they use the same bar
No clue what that means, but stay out off the mechanics section. You know nothing of mechanics so your opinion won't be any help to anybody
Another solution would be simply reduce the energy maximum and regeneration, and make a few balance adjustments here and there. Wouldn't be difficult at all to balance. Less energy would mean no more spamming teleports, and reload times would mean no more spamming weapons. Weapons could finally be made effective then, with more damage, and average DPS limited by reload times. Reload times would also give openings for melee players to attack, instead of having to wait for the shooter to run out of energy. I'm astonished at how nobody thought of all this before. Maybe there could be some guns that use energy and others that don't, but have reload times. That would be harder to balance I guess. Just a thought. I just really like reload times, it gives some kind of nice pace to gameplay, and I find the fact that guns use energy stupid.
Lowering energy lowers melee movement, guns are supposed to lower mobility by taking energy, you shouldn't post here either because you obviously don't know shit about mechanics
You know, I'm surprised so many people like this. I was expecting the stuff that was said to be more along the lines of 'Meh, I like my OP guns.' or 'This would ruin the game!'
I like this suggestion, because guns are worthless in this update due to being triple nerfed into oblivion. Guns use energy, limiting their usage. Their dps is too low. their dps assumes you can fire them forever, which you cannot. Basically, a gun never does more than 2k dps in most cases, and for the most part it will only deal 2kdps for around 3 seconds. and then energy needs to be regenerated for even longer, so lets say another three. So in short, guns as of this update, using a little bit of maths, deal around 1000 dps at tier 10. and having an ammunition bar would at least open the door for stronger weapons.
