    Running into this error today, I think this is from this mod - but I am not 100% certain:

    try and verify your files via steam, you seem to be lacking a vanilla item for some reason.
    i don't even touch heartthrobbow in the slightest, besides it should always be capable of finding the vanilla items.

    Not on unstable, and no other mods that deal with bows, but yeah I assume it could be any of them.

    Hey. I would like to propose an idea for expanding your mod if you are open to hear it. Normally I would try to "PM" you with something like this but as far as I know the Starbound forums don't have this feature. I'll give you a basic layout of my idea and if you are interested I can explain more about it and maybe give some more examples. Basically I think it would be really cool if we added some " Antiquated Human Weaponry " into the game. And gave it a rusted and battered sort of feel the way that many of the Tear 1 melee weapons look.

    Here is a rusted Ak sprite I made as an example:

    Anyway here is fine as well.

    I was playing with that idea before, but haven't done much with it yet. I decided to simply stick to standard randomgen weapons since adding them and the recipes was quite time consuming. And was getting bored of guns.
    I'm not sure i'll start it again anytime soon, or at all. i've got other mods planned which i deem more important to general gameplay.

    Had these sprites so far, a ak and a 16th century hand bombard. (your ak is nicer though)

    And you might want to wait things out, chucklefish likely has several gun sprites waiting to be implemented already.

    Alright. Maybe someday in the future it will even be possible to create more realistic ammunition consumption and reloading for combustion weapons. If you ever do decide to come back to the idea, please let me know. I would be happy to help out with the project in any way I can.

    Well I personally would like to see something with attachments, although I don't know how it might be done, things like laser sights or scopes.Laser weapons might also be cool or perhaps some way to directly modify what a gun looks like, something like the vanity slots we have for our characters. Adding some way to change the ammo type of a gun or being able to chamber it in two or more types and being able to switch between them would make choosing what kind of gun you want to use much easier or perhaps adding progression so that weapon frames will only take materials above a certain point or just making them unlock at a certain point. Perhaps some sort of upgraded bench that would allow you to use two separate types of ammo on one gun and switch between them or perhaps a bandolier type business, attached to ones back that would allow you to switch between a number of ammo types. Being able to craft miniguns would personally make my day but I completely understand that there are plenty of reasons not to do that. These are just a few suggestions I thought of although I have little to no knowledge of coding or how Starbound works on the mod level but I hope they might spur on some ideas of what to do next.

    All the modding i did so far was using existing functions and testing them out, i haven't used custom lua scripts because i'm not very experienced with that kind of editing (yet).
    Unfortunately most of the ideas you bring up would require lua editing, and while i would like to try and make some of those it's more realistic to flat out say it's quite unlikely i'd personally add those.

    -Secondary functions, i'd like to add these when we get the planned (iirc) multi stancing support. Might still not be able to make several variants, but something like zooming in or a laser trail should still be quite doable.
    -custom gun appearance crafting, technically possible for me already but just really impractical. i'd have to create a unique gun id for each possible look and add all those recipes. likely would take months if not longer.
    -Switching ammo, i do like this idea. and have been thinking about it for a while. but again seems to require lua editing currently.
    -Crafting legendaries, i'll have to pass on that. i intentionally made them rarer and stronger then other guns. might have to look into something less rng dependent though.
    -unlocking / tiered frames, nah. i can't get tiered chest drops yet so all tiers have the same gun drop tables currently, which would make it weird for crafting to have such a limit. I also like the freedom of being able to craft what you want (with the exception of a few bows) at whatever tier you want. That and unlocking items can go wrong at times, which is why i currently use two methods that can be triggered several times with ease. (on load via player.config and on crafting steel bars)
    -lasers, i haven't managed to get them to look and function just like i wanted yet. Might have to look at how other modders tackled them.

    Well thanks for replying and it's nice to see I'm not the only person who thought of some of these, I just put these here as idea-fodder to help you decide what to do next. I understand that modders are currently quite limited on what they can do with Starbound without doing some serious coding but hopefully that will be different sometime soon eh? In the meantime this is an awesome mod that I wouldn't dream of not using and if you're tired of working on guns perhaps you could look at some other things, riot shields for example would compliment the machine pistols and grenade launchers nicely. Some better and easier to use grappling hooks would be nice or perhaps some more elaborate defence turrets.

    I have been wondering the past few days if a certain ammo would be possible to create. A proximity/flak bullet that would be useable by pistols, ARs, shotguns, and snipers. They could be slightly weaker than standard bullets for that weapon since they need extra space for the proximity fuse in them, but easier to hit with overall.

    technically it's possible, they would just be stickybullets or stickybombs with a onreap explosion (like explosive arrows) with a sizable animation so it can hit enemies in a wide range. (like say a transparent red circle).
    Oberon suggested 1 handed shotguns btw, still not sure if there's a official name for those. but sounds like a nice fit. Will need to think things over a bit.

    hey wurm heart, first off, thank you for this wonderful mod! i really look forward to the variety being added to vanilla guns through your hard work!

    secondly, i have installed your mod but have yet to find any weapons with your effects/bullet types. im assuming that if i added your mod to an existing world that i would have to go to new planets to acquire these guns. is that correct? also, if a character is already at the end tier of items, do i need to re-access starmap upgrades to get the weaponworkbench? thanks in advanced for your response...

    You can also create them from the gun crafting table. I think it's from an anvil/metalwork station.

    No need to re-access tiers or starmaps or worldgens anything. worlds you already visited should be unaffected though, i believe chest drops are decided once you've beamed down or traveled to the planet with a ship.
    the gun table is a tier1 recipe at the anvil, it does require steel though so mats wise it's more tier 2.

    A giant laser is a bit to unreal imo, still want to look into lasers for a few of my guns.

    Well I suppose the term you're thinking of would be sawn-off shotgun, although the combat shotgun from Fallout 3 also fits the bill nicely.
